Well, i'd like to set the text in the posts to white because I use the darker theme. That way the text would contrast and be better than the gray the theme uses by default. I'd also like to know how to change the color of my text. Semix use pink, for example. I'd have to see which color would work well for the rest of the users, so I don't use a color that is easily readable in this dark theme, but painful to read in the light theme, like, I dunno, yellow.

If it was possible to make a theme, I'd like to give it a try. It'd take me some time to complete a design, though...

About the smileys, I had a great couple of phantasy star made smileys that I could add. The are PS IV related:

Alternative solution for the board skins, if anyone want to request a theme, please go ahead. You can choose from these:

Note that this board is version 3.0.8

I am chiming in with my dislike of the current smileys. The PS ones are actually kind of funny.

Even a smiling turd would be better than the generic smilies... But since you showed PS themed smilies, I can only say I'm all for those.

Something like this would be nice. I don't know if MyBB themes are compatible with phpBB...

The forums are almost readable even without CSS.

phpBB3's theming is even worse than phpBB2's. It's as if they did their best to make the HTML as convoluted as possible. There is a style attribute used on tags in several places that are non-trivial to remove.

I'm tempted to nuke the whole thing and start from scratch. It's that bad.

Still struggling to find out what symbol means what, on the dark theme. sometimes the box is light up, filled in, and has a plus next to it? Not sure what each one is

A cheat-sheet I shall provide.

Also, on the forum images:

In a nutshell, the shape of the image and color indicates the type, the plus on the lower left indicates whether you're watching the thread, and the box in the center shows whether there are posts you haven't read.
Hope this helps!

@Zucca the Royal Sun skin looks ideal for a light background style. Just a shame that its not phpbb style.

@carlsojos thank you for that! I was equally confused as the others.

@ALL I have been looking at more styles, here are a few demos, please let me know which one you guys like and I can add it to our forum:
1) http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/in ... le_id=1037
2) http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/in ... tyle_id=30
3) http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/in ... yle_id=385
4) http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/in ... tyle_id=60
5) http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/in ... yle_id=245

I personally like number 2, maybe with some icon changes...

Number 2 is simple and right to the point, without any obtrusive graphics. I think it'd be interesting to try to build a complete in-house design off of it, but I can't draw for snot.

Maybe it'd be a good idea to make a sticky containing cheat-sheets for all the styles, if we get more than a 3 or 4 installed here.

All of those are too dark, save maybe for the last one. Their XHTML sucks, too.
