I'm about to make a PS fangame... now with a screenshot

I'm working on a classic Phantasy Star fangame. I am using a program called RPG Director, Multiplayer Online version. It will be an MMO.

If you want a sample of what the game will be like, try this Final Fantasy based MMO made with the same editor. http://www.animetheme.com/animetheme.html (just click on the "Anime Theme World Online RPG" link on the left side of the page) no downloads required, it plays in the web window. Just log in as a guest and try it.

Anyways, back to my PS MMO fangame.
The game takes place on board the worldship NeoPalm immediately after the destruction of Palma. Before being destroyed by Rolf and his party, Mother Brain made copies of herself and transmitted them to the control systems of all the worldships except for Alisa III(which contained a Dark Force). These Mother Brain copies act as computer viruses and cause the systems of the worldships to go crazy. The systems have just started going crazy on the NeoPalm. You and your friends must team up, find the source of the chaos, correct it, and destroy the Mother Brain clone to ensure the survival of the Neopalm.

The game environments/maps will heavily resemble Phantasy Star III. The overworld maps will actually be modified versions of the PSIII maps. The enemies will be a mixture of Phantasy Star II and IV enemies(I would never use the terribly animated enemies of PSIII lol). And I can't decide if I will use character sprites from PSII or IV, I will probably use a bit of both.

Character Types:
Palman - Your standard non-magic Human, Good melee ability. (Orakians in PSIII)

Esper - Magical Humans, Good magic and not so good melee skills. (Layans in PSIII)

Numan - Biomonster/Human hybrid, all female, perfect balance of melee and magic, fastest stat growth.

Numans will start out overpowered compared to other types but as they level up they will begin to balance out with other types of equal level. To compensate for their overpoweredness they will start inside of a level 7 dungeon with low exp rewards instead of beginning inside of a starting town like the other types.

Android - you can't play as them, the Mother Brain clone virus on NeoPalm made them go insane.

I will be using music tracks from the classic PS games and PSO, if you have any suggestions please post them.

So, what do you guys think of my little project?

Interesting idea from the screenshot. Will it always have the PSIII based background?

Oh Zandor..

want some remixed PS 3 music? Since Kalba isn't completing the remake, you can have it.

Ask Ian, Benoit and Etra about my remixes :D

No, I'm going to use different backgrounds for different areas. Although alot of stuff will be PSIII based because the game takes place onboard NeoPalm, a worldship nearly identical to Alisa III. The character sprites are edited PSIV sprites and enemies are from PSII and IV.

Personally I think PSIV sprites are easier to edit and start from scratch.
The lighting makes alot more sense on the sprites also your able to add more detail due to the slight difference in style.
With PS2 sprites black borders have to surround the whole sprite making it difficult to add in detail.
Sound really cool, I like the idea for this and If I wasnt working on my own fangame Id lend a hand (Isnt that always the case lol).

Lord Khyron:
As for PS3 remixed music, Id be interested in using some PM me thanks

I've seen PS2 sprites without the black backgrounds o.o You can choose any background color..

Oddity

LoL
thats not what I meant.. Im talking about on the actual sprite, the background colour isn't important on a sprite because you can make that transparent.
But how the sprite is formed, on PS2 Black is used to define the sprite so all the bodys outline will be in black unlike Phantasy Star 4 which is more versatile.

Thanks Khyron, I would love to use some of your remixes.

BTW does anyone have a Nei sprite from PSII? I want the Numans in this game to look more like Nei than Rika but I cant find a Nei sprite that I can edit.

I have thought of a name for this game now, "Phantasy Star: The Final Days", in reference to the last dialouge of PSII "I wonder what the people will see in the final days..."

You will need to get AIM

Im about to begin working on this project again, I had to stop before because I had to focus on college classes.

It's been hard for me to work on this game because I dont know xml and the editor that I'm creating it with requires you to know xml. I've basically been doing this by trial and error. I do know a bit about html, which is similar to xml, and that helps sorta.

When I do start this project up again I will most likely need assistance.
