PSV - Revised

Postby HTD » Wed Mar 18, 2009 1:56 am

Some time ago I embarked with a friend to create a fan game unoriginally called Phantasy Star 5.
We wanted to compile the game with fenix code and port it to the dreamcast.
This eventually caused the project to change, we both cancelled the project for our own reasons.

Recently I have continued working on a mod for rpg maker vx.
The results have led to me revising the PS V Project.

I think when I originally posted about the project,
I had focused on designing cool characters and then tried to patch
them into the story.
This time around I've focused on the story more.
The old game had way to many final fantasy touches
and was influenced to much by fans demands.
I think at one stage I had even bought nei back from the dead...lol.
So about 60% of the information you've seen isn't going to be in the
game.

I will be releasing some screen shots later this week, along with a demo in a couple of months.
The ps mod will be released after that time.
That way more ps games can be made for the community.

Okay I apologize for the amount of images I hope this is okay.

To begin with I'll just explain that these are screenshots from the Demo which currently is still being worked on, the battle system is being finished unfortunately I am still in the process of making Battler Sprites, so I can't show you how it looks.
Just imagine PS4 but with four characters instead of five.

To start with I have below some PS3 portraits that I originally was going to use but due to needing feedback I've decided to create Phantasy Star 4 style ones as well.

I need you guys to guide me with which you prefer as Im unsure myself.

Now moving on :)
The picture below is the Current Cast my intention is to have about 8 protectors in the game (similar to PS2).
I havent decided on the final two as I am just literally putting characters in when the story calls for them, I have found as I said in my earlier post that this stops the "lets put 3000 nei's in the game" from occuring.

So from left to right are as follows:

Jona, Sara, Buck, Lutz, Rem, Mieu

I don't want to really go too much into the story but Im sure a few you recognize from my earlier topic about the fan game, most of these elements remain in tack apart from a few things.

Now below are the screenshots from the Demo.
The Town is a Garden community that have managed to get life to grow in the desert lands.
They are followers of a great scientist and have decided to base a culture on his research and theories.

Obviously I can't blame you wondering "this all looks very PS4 like", you'd be right at the moment. I do plan on having some cities reflect a more modern look a little similar to my original work on the previous topic.
Right now this is what I got though heh

The image below is a test for battle poses, still not completely finished but I think you guys get the idea.

This one I just did for kicks, its a remake of Alis, the PS2 Cast and The first generation PS3 cast.

So yeah I hope It's not dissapointed you all, Im quite excited to be working on this game at the moment to be honest.
I got a good idea and It fits in quite well with the rest of the series.

Let me know your views guys.

This look wonderful.

I also love the way you remade Alisa and the PSII staff.
I'm really happy to see such fine graphics for a PSV.

Not bad, this is much MUCH better than your old attempt. Do stick with the PSIV-ness, it works well visually.

I don't know how you feel about them, but I often notice most of the characters I create often lack something that makes them believable characters. So, as an early remedy, I recommend watching animes as a source of idea's.

It's probably a bad idea to go with common ones (ex: Trigun, G.i.t.S., Evangelion, Inuyasha, etc.), so try anime's like Clannad, Rumbling Hearts (more often seen in it's Japanese version, but I still think the American version is better, tho I can't recall the Japanese name)... there was another one I watched recently that I thought had some interesting characters, but I can't remember the name...

Friends and family have recommended: Elfin Leid, Ouran highschool Host Club, Love Hina, Kanon, Air, Fruits Basket, & Shuffle.

I've seen some of these, tho Love Hina was the only one I had the opportunity to watch the whole series of (including the movies). Ouran h.s. Host Club is f***ing hilarious and the only three I haven't seen from that list are Air, Kanon, & Elfin Leid.

Something to think about.

Okay I think I'll make it clear lol
Anime as in visual style but the tone of the game is going to be darker
I have to get this to good balance but compared to ps4 the tone will be less jump for joy.
