Programing skills.

I'm wondering, does anyone here have good programing skills? Skills that would allow us to leave RPG Maker behind?

http://www.pygame.org/ Learn Python! ^^

I would consider myself a good programmer, but I'm not at all comfortable with graphical applications; sorry! (Will hopefully have some time to look into PyGame a little over my summer holiday though -- heck, I could perhaps even claim it's work related and do it at the office... ;))

I just watched the first video on the page and it does seem interesting although absolutely not something I'd be capable of.

Video game companies start there source code for there game from scratch I assume? or do they build upon a model? Obviously, I know nothing about programing...

I think I have decent programming skills. As another thread on this message board shows, I've been busy trying to program something resembling an RPG using SDL.

Video game companies these days usually build upon an existing framework like the Unreal Engine or have their own home-made engine.
Get Xenoblade Chronicles!
