thanks for the tips guys i'm well aware of my needs. also i live in kuwait so ebaying is annoying for anything that weighs more than a few pounds although i do have excellent shipping options (Aramex).
I may get a new HP or Toshiba laptop on credit as it may be funner than a desktop even though it'll be twice as expensive as building a desktop and not as powerful. I recently remembered how enjoyable coding while smoking at a nice hooka bar can be!
Hopefully this week I can get it heck maybe today even.
I still intend on finishing this project because it's honestly a lot of fun even for me, which is saying a lot because i feel that in general coders don't like playing their own games. I read in an interview with some famous game designer that he wishes he could enjoy the games he helps create...
anyway some "news"...i don't think i can port my game to android using ExEn because the Mono for Android software costs...get this...$2999 or something. ridiculous! they don't offer a student version only a emulator option for free but I can't compile on that. So, maybe if I get extra money I'll get a windows 7 phone. I'll attempt to port to iphone since everyone in Kuwait owns an iphone4/s.
I've been thinking about the structure of this program a lot and I'm really having a hard time deciding how to structure the monsters. At least, I want them to be as close as possible in stats and weaknesses as in the original games (not that it makes a huge difference honestly) but it's gonna be tough. PSIV has some stupid flags that would take too long to code and then I would have to make all the other monsters the same...or make some really stupid and bad structured coding to get all the types in.
So, I decided that I'm going to think about that problem later, as I just need to implement a few monsters so I can have a playable version of this game. The last time I stopped coding I was about to add a monster's animations [chirper from PSIII] (I removed a lot of monster code because for some reason it wasn't working the way I wanted it to) however I stopped as my laptop stopped working for a month.
anyway I know i've been saying i need a pc for a long time now but I reallllly need one as i believe this one is on the verge of not working for several reasons and I'm sick of dealing with it. it doesn't even have HDMI out and i hate tranferring files to USB so I can watch them on my TV. when not connected to the charger (which doesn't work usually) I only get 20 minutes battery life. so you can see how I have little patience coding on it.
anyway I decided that if I ever decide to stop working on this thing i will release the full source code. That does not mean that I intend on stopping coding anything soon!
thank you
