Anyone can try and is invited, how about a challenge to remake any monster from the original games? You would choose any monster you want and remake it, It doesn't matter if you're good or not as long as you try right?
Anyone in?
If not then could someone point me a monster that you would like remade ;)

I have a good idea of how I'd make it, I'm not exactly going the PS 4 Rappy style neither the PS3 Chirper one, I also have a special skill / animation in mind which I think could be cool. I'll work on it this weekend and get back to you with the progress.
Thanks for asking BTW I would have never thought about that monster to be honest so it's a good challenge!

I'd actually look more into PSIII monsters since, despite the goofy sprites, there's some of the best monster designs in that game, in my opinion. =o Heck, I'd kill to see a not-so-silly Grinder (the stone face with the toothy grin).

Daren!! I'm glad to see you're still around, I hope you're still at it! I know work can be extremely time consuming, but man, you had GOLD over there, and such dedication too. I honestly ORIGINALLY checked back here to see if there was a release yet. I'm a fan of your art, can't wait for the game!

Well I've not finished the last project sadly, after my 5 months vacation I just didn't have the time to spend on the game you know, with work, and real life.
I am working on another project though which isn't related to phantasy Star, I'm working on the story and the main world right now, drawing maps out, working on creating the main characters and developing they're main story.

Anyway here's the first frame I had done

It was inspired by an image I found on the net.

I think a contest/challenge to remake a Phantasy Star monster would be cool, although I think it should be expanded to include any PS critter, not just the 2D games.

Sure dude, you can remake any monsters from any other games.

When you really think about it, it's sad about how bad the monster animation were in PS3 and in many ways this game is really the one that should get a remake. So I've decided to remake the Chirper PS3 monster the way it should have been and here's the start of the project. Keep in mind that it won't be exactly the same had the original, I intend to change things up a little but the shape will pretty much stay the same.

Got some time to work on the Chirper animation today, decided to change the monster a little from it's original version and here's the result.

DEMON & GOLD SLIME

Pencil, ink, and colored pencil on lined notebook paper. The game sprites, Phantasy Star Gaiden logo, and text were added later with the GIMP art program.
