Phantasy Star Zero

Because there is yet no section for PS Zero here at PS Cave, it should not stop us from discussing it. For the newbies (if there are any), Wikipedia introduces:
Phantasy Star Zero is a DS game developed and published by Sega that was released in Japan on December 25th 2008. The game expands on the gameplay mechanics of online games in the series, such as Phantasy Star Online, but also features an offline general story mode.

Featured in the game is "Visual Chat", a take on PictoChat where players communicate by drawing on the DS' touchscreen. The game contains three online modes: Free Mode, in which you are randomly paired up with a party, Friend Mode, where you can invite your friends into a private room (and your friends can invite their own), and Single Mode, where you can play online by yourself and level up on your own (similar to Phantasy Star Online's offline mode). There will be a full story mode as well, for those who do not want to/can not go online.

The game is also said to contain over 350 weapons, and will debut two new weapon classes, Shields and Gunslashes. Shields are a blunt weapon that can be used to block an enemy attack at the cost of PP, and Gunslashes are a hybrid mix between a gun and a sword, allowing for long range and short range interchangeability.

So, are you all going mental? Or chillaxing?

Umm...not sure yet. I mean, if there is any game out there that will force me to buy a DS, it will be a new Phantasy Star game. I personally like the art style. I don't expect game play to be very different. However, the ability to perform dodging moves is cool. And the gun blade weapon is intriguing.

i'll get it the moment it releases. Once we do, we should create a friend code thread.

Can't they make a version for PSP, it may not be touchscreen but has more power. Or should i hope for a DS for birthday? I only really liked PSIV (well univese was decent), and PSI well is okay (On sega mega drive ultimate collection on ps3). I wish they would make a follow on from PSIV with same characters. Anyway if i get a DS, could be good.

One more question, will it be out for Europe more specifically UK because america get so much more i wouldn't be surprised

I don't think there is an English version yet. But I don't really care, I'm not going to buy it.

I like the anime thingy they put in there. I don´t know what the hell is going on there, looks like a generic emo/preteen story or something, but the fact that they got arsed to do something like that for a Phantasy Star game catches me. That´s probably all I will get to see of this game anyway :^P

i saw some gameplay on youtube it was 3D and i think DS isn't capable of decent 3D is it? I mean for a full game it would be a squeeze.

I wanted a RPG like PSIV, but yeah the chances of that are...

One of the DS' release titles was full 3D. By now it should be easily capable.

Metroid Prime Hunters is a good example of the DS' 3D capabilities, which are decent.

I have M.P.-H. and I'm not very fond of it. Loved the Prime seriese for GC & Wii tho.

Also I already have 0 pre-ordered. Said it'd be here by may... and now I'm hearing November and December?

that's the only complaint I have so far...
