...even Motavia was hit by at least one huge 7-domed world ship, it survived.

So there
must have been some serious Dark Force tricks at Gaila. Palma was smaller than Motavia, but that doesn't explain it.

knowing what we know from PSIV...
its very possible there was a Dark Force on Gaila, but how that destroys a planet i dont know. i mean, if it was really that simple...

Was the wreckage found in PSIV really a worldship? I doubt it. It's way too small for that. I'm thinking it's one of the smaller ships.
What may also have played a role is that it fell out of orbit instead of being driven full force into the planet.

I dont think that Gaila was the sole cause. Could of been some end all code sent from MB to the systems on Parma to self destruct.

it certainly isnt a complete worldship, maybe just a piece of one.
didnt it mention in PSIV that Motavia was also hit by a piece of Palma?

I agree. It was size of a small town. But that fell right from the top. It hadn't any slide tracks. Only one big crater.
Still far from destroying a planet.
Would "Gaila packed full of explosives" sound too far fetch'd?
Altough

sounds more realistic.

I suppose some antimatter bombs might do the trick.

True.
I had a wild idea... What if those control towers were actually bombs, and Mother Brain also built those on Palma?
But I guess MB wasn't evil from the start. Dark Force just corrupted it.

If we are to believe the Earthmen, she was always programmed to be evil.

Wasn't earthmen also corrupted by Dark Force?

Also, if there was also systems put intno effect like Mota, those could be rigged to. Especially if there is a plate system. As a note that it might of been planed to have the satilite do down and crash when Parma exploded to increase the fear of space travel.

I, for one, believe it was a combination of those theories. The satellite may have struck Palma, but Mother Brain did confess to wanting to "walk my children down the path of destruction". That being said, it's entirely plausible that MB did activate self-destruct mechanisms created throughout Palma much in the same way SEED offed himself.
Then again, it doesn't make much sense when you think about the fact that the Earthmen created MB for the purpose of aquiring the Algo starsystem for themselves. They left earth because earth was (is?) f***ed and found their way to the Algo system.
If they wanted to suspend interplanetary travel, I really believe they could have achieved that goal without destroying Palma. Besides, if you're going to destroy a planet, why destroy the one most habitable for earthmen? Motavia and Dezolis were both far more logical choices. Motavia is naturally a desert and Dezolis is... really cold.

Knowing that fact, it's very likely that earthmen, too, were also corrupted by Dark Force.
Also (sidenote) note that corruption made by Dark Force does not seem to wear off quickly even if Dark Force is destroyed. Altough DF had much time to corrupt these earthmen... But this could be important fact (?) on some other theory.
