Hmm. It seems that the carnivous tree battle is tied with the gfx tile.
I would have assumed that only the first two tiles are the blocking ones that trigger the battle... But it seems that all of the tiles trigger the battle.

Btw... Since you have the debug mode on, how about going to the large, inaccessble part of Dezo near Esper Mansion to see if there's any battle encounters?

What I found interesting was the music. It plays the "blizzard is over" music for half a second, then reverts to the "blizzard" music after running from the trees. It continues using the blizzard music even after entering/exiting somewhere else.

It reminds me of how if you use walk through walls codes to enter and exit Sage Isle in PS3 with Aquatica still frozen, it'll be unfrozen, but only until you enter and exit somewhere else.

There are almost certainly encounters there, and it'd be the same as the rest of the planet except for the area around Ryuon and Tyler.

There are even encounters in parts of Dezolis that are completely inaccessible, like north of the Garuberk Tower.
