Rented ToS...My thoughts.

First of all, the blunt side:
Single Player properties were better than I thought. Multiplayer properties were worse than I thought.
Having said this, I thought the game was really really really well done. Graphics, and voice acting was good. Story shiftment was good as well. *SPOILER* Once we (There was four of us playing) got to the final battle in Sylvarant, (where the mercenary defies you) and the story shifted and changed so much, I thought that my mind was going to blow up, so much story, so much to take in!*end SPOILER* With that said, it showed promise throughout the game. Now as far as multiplayer went, I think we were a little bored. First of all, multiplayer was only allowed during battles, (which are very eventful and fun), and sometimes there weren't enough party members so everyone could fight. Dissapointing to say the least.
Though I can't butcher that too much. After playing it I can see that its meant for Single player, though if you have a friend around that wants in on some action, its possible.

Yeah, I think the multiplayer option is a joke. Probably in there as a selling point being as MMORPGs are so popular (it pains me to say). But the game as a single player RPG is awesome!!! One of the best ever.

Its good to play with 2 people so you can do some nice combos but 4 player isn't nessary, the game is great I've beat it twice now.

ToS is freaking sweet, from what I've seen! I went out and bought it, a few days ago, at an EB Games store here in town (that came as a pleasant surprise to me). It reminds me of Star Ocean: the 2nd Story, in some ways... so as you may've already guessed, that made me like it even more. :)

Yes, I do see it as a very good game for adventurers. I really enjoy multiplayer games though. So as you can see....
This would explain why I thought as the battles so phenominal! It was so much fun!

lol mike, me and nik returned and rented it another night.
the multiplayer isn't that bad. after a while you never have less than 6 or 7 in your part, from what i witnessed anyways. but ya, multiplayer is pretty ok also because some of those seals and temples, it really helps to have another mind in there helping you out. me and a freind (with the odd help of neo and other) played 33 hours of the game. we were just about to unlock the seal in that really dark temple, i forget what its called. so ya, we think we got pretty far, levels 38-40 for all chars and we didn't even hi disc 2. a good buy id say. but ya, it really helps 2 have multiple people because *small spoiler, names and a few moves will be told here*you can have somebody be kratos or lloyd or that prince guy(forget his name) and then have another be colette or genis. i say colette is a great choice, cus she's not always smart enough to cast holy song right at the start or conserver tp and go melee, which she is actually quite decent at. *end*
but ya, id say, very good buy. if you haven't tried it, do it now. it has alot of battle and alot of strategy as well as a giant story that you really have to pay attention to, it throws some twists at you that you would never see coming.

Those twists were really confusing me.

Yeah, I think the multiplayer option is a joke. Probably in there as a selling point being as MMORPGs are so popular (it pains me to say).

Secret of Mana also had such a multi-player option, and MMORPGs weren't around that much back then. It's normal for action/RPGs with multiple characters to be able to multi-play. It doesn't make sense that only one character can be controlled and that the rest can only be controlled by AI.

No, but I'm sure friends also want to be in on the venturing. Could you imagine if each one of your could go anywhere in the world of ToS! How exciting would that be?!

that would be incredible. but i won't critisize the game too much, it was amazing in all aspects except for multiplayer, which i think wasn't all that bad once you got into the game and another intelligent mind helping you was a very nice thing
