OMG Andrew.. The final boss of the Genesis Ys 3 is..
NEAR IMPOSSIBLE!
you've got to use the item that damages the monster the full 3 times..
you're also going to need your life restoring medicine
It took me forever, and I only won by 2 hp left.
He drains you constantly and his attacks hurt.

I remeber that boss, he was pretty hard.
Use the item attacks right off the bat and fight tooth and nail to stay alive thru the rest.
So what Wanderer's is the best overall release? Is it safe to say the Turbo release? Or is that assuming too much?

He is harder on the genesis than the SNES version..
the SNES required ridiculous leveling and was unforgiving. It also had the cheap "use the birdies" to level in the Ilvern/Alcaino ruins.
I think the genesis has the best music of the 3.. the SNES one lacks that flair of the genesis sound core..
It's ironic, the SNES was harder, yet the final boss was easy..
The genesis was easier, yet the final boss was near impossible.
Ys is always the best because.. CRAWLING AROUND!
Tis freaking awesome to crawl and slash at ants and bugs and stuff.. Especially when you can beat the Warehouse Boss and Wizard Boss(Ballestine castle) by crawling!

Hehe, I like crawling too. I started a new game on Gens and got to the first boss and he rocked me!! I don't remember if I'm supposed to go up more levels or what, but I got my ass kicked!!

I got the Konami preview disc that contains a short (very short) demo of Ys VI. I have to say I like it a lot! For the most part it's a full on Ys game (even the same music for when you get an item!).
One thing I have to say was surprising was the gore involved in killing the enemies. There I am roaming around some lush green forest when I happen upon these little forest creature enemies, they attack me so I go after them. As I hack away at them they fly into pieces leaving a gruesome spattering of blood on the grass... AWESOME!! Didn't expect that!
The level I played was really tiny, and I've heard the game is pretty short, but it still was fun... can't wait for the full version.

Have you seen the limited box for that one?
- Artbook & reversable package sleeve
- Bonus disk (soundtrack, etc.)
- The pocket watch from the game
If I had the cash, I'd get it just for the watch.
BTW, zoothe, if you like the battle mechanics, wait 'til you see what the bosses are like....

Yeah, the Limited Edition Box is quite nice! I wish they'd do that kind of stuff in the states. Seems like Working Designs are the only one who go that crazy... but getting a new game from them is like waiting for Haley's Comet to come around!

Actually, that was the word all over the forum on GameFAQ's and I didn't see it at any of the stores I went to yesterday... but regardless, I have it NOW :P
Also, it seems Falcom is working on the next Ys game as well:
http://www.falcom.co.jp/ysf

Except Ys has the fact that you RUN into monsters at the right angle to damage them.
It was good and all but I am one of the few who liked Ys 3 for the sidescrolling and beautiful paralax backgrounds.
Plus the Cd version had vocals! Demanicus was so evil sounding..

The running into of monsters reminds me of Hydline......Thats one of those games you can play over and over if youre extremely bored! and super hydlide for sega genesis, that game = addicting, and funny. ....run around beating up mutant plants, to elevator music....haha
OH oh oh! Hahah I found my Ancient Land of Ys floppy for my IBM!...w/ the box and book and whatnots....the IBM one is frigging hilarious because the DOS music sounds like the NES ones........but its...DOS beeps!...and you cant turn em down, just turn em off :) its pretty neat. Truth be told its just as good as the NES one just the gfx are a little more blocky....I forgot how fun Ys 1 is....Ys in general is pretty fun..

I finally got to play Ys VI. I got it yesterday but have been extremely busy putting my house up for sale and making an offer for a new one up in Seattle :p
Anyways, Konami really did the fans justice with this one. The cheat codes allow you to play the original PC version of the game so basically there are like three different modes you can play the game in!!! Nice.
