Actually I used to be heavy into metal (like a decade ago), but no longer. The last metal album I bought was "The System Has Failed" by Megadeth (which pwns!!!!).

@Forge: I liked Imperial. Instrumentals are always nice, and that song just sits well with me. Kind of calming.<p>I haven't bought any of their earlier stuff because of how little recognition they have, at this point in time. I was lucky to find this album in my CD shop.

Hubbs, you're then only person I've ever met who categorizes In Flames and Arch Enemy as hardcore, versus the many people who categorize them as death metal. Metal Storm, The Metal Observer, Metal Maniacs-- they all call them death metal. Cannibal corpses thats death metal. In Flames and Arch Enemy aren't even close to being considered to fit in that genre.<p>Also Hardcore has actually changed now which is why it is no longer a punk category unless you call it hardcore punk to keep people from getting confused. Me being a man caught between punk and metal( but I am more punk if anything, 65%/45%) am kind of angered by this just a little bit.

Indeed, it happened a long time ago, with thrash metal being the first result of that.

My brother just brought home a Dragon Force and all I have to say is holy sh*t. It's a mix of trivium and Sonata Arctica. My 2 favorite bands of all time... I think I'm gonna have to add another to the list

Metallica is thrash. Disturbed, Korn and [S]Shitknot [/S] Slipknot are Nu-Metal. System of a Down is alternative rock.
