Looking for craziest synth pop songs

Postby Zucca » Tue Jul 27, 2010 4:51 pm

I got this one crazy idea.
Let's collect here the most insane/hilarious synth pop songs.
I'll start with Body Mechanic.
I've been trying to search for other songs from this Quadrant Six, but with no results.

Now post your own.

Nice freestyle!

I suppose this one's a bit mainstream (as mainstream as independent music gets), but I personally like the zaniness of Lawnchairs by Our Daughter's Wedding.

There's always Devo, too.

Huoseman and Lawnchairs were good songs. :)

Here's more of my favs:
And One - Spontanverkehr
Ministry - You Know What You Are

The latter is rather industrial synth-pop.

I get "Lawnchairs" stuck in my head frequently. If you enjoy 1980s hair as much as I do, you will like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_1UIuAISqY

I love synth pop. I'll be sure to post some more later as I go through my library.

And ah! I love Ministry!

I love it too. I have several Ministry albums. From synth-pop era and from industrial metal era.

New Order - Blue Monday

There are different versions of this song. This isn't the best but at least this has quite good quality.

New Order's "Blue Monday" is like the crown jewel of 1980s synth pop. I love that song, and the 1988 remix is nicely done.

And now I get to pull out some related trivia! Woohoo! First of all, here's a more recent synth pop song, called "Stiff Kittens" by Blaqk Audio. Blaqk Audio is the electronic side project of some of the members of the alt rock band AFI. "Stiff Kittens" is an obscure reference to the group Joy Division, which later became New Order. Anyhoo...

Excellent, excellent stuff. Davey Havok channels Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode) in Violator-era goodness here.

Speaking of remixes, the 1989 remix of Real Life's "Send Me an Angel" is better than the original, I think:

And speaking of New Order, I must post my favorite of theirs, "Bizarre Love Triangle." Many remixes of this song, too. I chose this one because the top rated comment included "I hate Justin Bieber." Yes.

Since this has now wandered into good synth pop territory, I'll end with the always delightful but definitely odd "White Horse" by Laid Back.

Bizarre Love Triangle was familiar (it's on my mp3 collection). But this white horse was strange. :D Although not strange as Devo's "Whip It" but enough to fit the topic. ;)

Most people automatically think of "Whip It," but Devo has some other great songs, too.

"Whip It" is a well known one, but I like a lot of their stuff. :D I haven't heard this song in forever...
