On a different note, mid-term elections are in full swing in America right now. If those asshole Republicans gain back their majority in congress thanks to stupid Americans, I'll be pissed.

This is not to say that Obama's track record is without faults, but things are only going to be worse with Republicans. Lesser of the two evils, and all that.

LOL you obviously have no idea how bad the democrats are. So far they've made the debt and economy worse than it already is and the health care is a joke. The republicans are already in motion to win the house. They already have 110 seats to the dems 60 for congress.

Anyway I have restarted my collecting hobby. I just bought another 3DO game on ebay which brings my total to 5. I'm still looking for a good copy of gex for cheap and the 6 button arcade sticks.

I have a very clear picture how bad both parties are. I haven't been following the US political system for nothing since the Clinton administration.

LOLbama's healthcare sucks ass because he kept on giving ground to companies AND Republicans who kept chanting "Healthcare is Socialism! We don't want no Socialism in America!". The original offer was better, even if not enough, and I'm comparing it to the Canadian healthcare system as well as France's, which are good examples of developed nations with competent healthcare systems.

The debt is bigger now, yes, but that was unavoidable anyway. It's the consequence of keeping W. Bush in the office for eight years and letting run rampant with his War of Terror first in Afghanistan and then Irak. Why couldn't the US get out as soon as LOLbama entered office? Easy. Those are failures of states. They were way before the wars. Still, those same wars aggravated the situation to the way it is now. In Afghanistan, the Taliban are a threat that just can't be controlled. Worse yet, those crazy fundamentalists now have an even bigger hatred for the US, and no doubt will plan attacks one day. Before, Afghanistan just wasn't much of a concern for the US. No military budget needed to be wasted there. Now, the US can't get out of that hellhole.

Irak is no different.

But one of the main reasons for the failure of the US economy is because banks "lose money", then start crying for the government to save their sorry asses. That's a good example of socialism there. The kind of socialism that can't be applied to healthcare, lest the United States of America turn into another Cuba.

Then, LOLbama rescues banks, and for what? People still suffer.

Now comes the Tea Party making a fuss against the LOLbama administration... OH CRAP... Those wankers are funded by the same banks the government was so keen on rescuing.

Wasn't it originally Bush's idea to give home to everyone in USA? Just like that... Then came the bank crisis... Also his government was the one that supported hydrogen cars instead of EVs... If you've seen the documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car".

My opinion? Obama is the lesser evil. He's an angel compared to Bush.
Although I admit I haven't read all the things Bush did and what Obama has done to this day. It's just my opinion based on the material I've read/seen.
I am NaN!

The problem is that the Democrats are the best bet right now. How is voting in the Republicans a solution?

It's because of the Republicans that America is in this mess, and the rich party's raison d'être is to fill their pockets with even more money by abusing their power (which they only have in the first place because they've got money to manipulate public opinion). They were against socialised health care because ZOMG SOCIALISM HOW DARE HUMANS (a social species) BE SOCIAL IT SHOULD BE EVERYONE FOR HIMSELF.

Really, every time Obama tries to do a good thing he gets opposition from Republicans, the wealthy, or asocial Americans.
  • Socialised health care? The private insurance companies spend lots of money lobbying against it.
  • Laws regulating the financial sector so it doesn't cause another economic downturn again? Here come Wall Street's massive sums of money to lobby against it!
  • Bailing out banks so the economic system doesn't flounder and people don't lose their money? THE PEOPLE BE ANGRY! The moral in this case is: damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Hmmm... The discussion about this political topic is getting longer. I'll make a new topic to avoid making a mess with this thread.

Nice! Benny did it better.

Here's my first contribution that is not related to the war, and sort of includes ME in the picture because of my proximity with the US.

The judges there mostly responded in an interesting way, but... We'll have to see.

Saying Democrats are Republicans are the same is quite ignorant, especially without any motivation.

I don't quite agree with the same arse thing... It's more like a deformed one. Imagine a butt with three cheeks... A right republican cheek, a middle, leaning towards the right one called democrat cheek, and a completely flat, bony area where the left one should be. Oh, on the right cheek there is a red zit that drinks tea, but it's very far to the right.

But going back to the main topic...

MAN, I can't stand CNN... ALL DAY THE SAME SONG... "Republicans won, Obama is defeated, blah, blah, blah..."

The only different thing on CNN right now is that guess what? Ricky Martin wrote a book and signed it to his fans!!!! YAAAAAAYYYYY!!!

Allow me to barf all the food I had...

Socialised health care? The private insurance companies spend lots of money lobbying against it.

Laws regulating the financial sector so it doesn't cause another economic downturn again? Here come Wall Street's massive sums of money to lobby against it!

Bailing out banks so the economic system doesn't flounder and people don't lose their money? THE PEOPLE BE ANGRY! The moral in this case is: damned if you do, damned if you don't.

1. The health care plan is lazy and unfinished. If you read it you would know that it would affect small businesses in a negative way. If a company does not offer some kind of health care option they are penalized and fined by the governemnt per assiciate. Places like fast food restuarents mom and pop stores, aut mechanics would be losing money, possibly shutting down because of this.

2. The laws to regulate the finacial sector are a joke. So far All the administartio n has done is by two of the 3 biggest car manufacturers in the US and have done nothing with that.

3.The banks wouldn't have needed the bailout money if they didnt lose it in teh first place. The housing economy collasping is one of the reasons the recession started. Banks played alot of customers by convinincing them they could aford said house that cost X amount. After a while people could not afford and banks started to forclose on houses. After a while a lot of banks were losing money and even severl chains either closed, went bankrupt or got bought by a bigger bank chain. Also those bails outs ended up in the pockets of greedy CEO's who didnt put the money towards their strugglin companies.

And to before the mid term elections took place Barack and the dems still had the majority vote in the house and senate to pass any bill he wanted. What has he done since been in office. Closed Git-mo, passed the unfinished and BS healthcare bill, decided to pull troops out of iraq, and send a small handful of troops to afghanistan. And that was all year 1 stuff. Year 2 he did nothing but campaign to make sure the dems controlled the house. He is just as bad a president as duby and possibly worse. And fuck it I wanted Hilary but her crying caused her the ballet. I also waned Ron Paul but people felt that McCain had a better chance of going against ignorant voters who wanted to vote in the first black president. I'm sorry but if you wanted a black perisdent then you all should've voted for Senator Keyes and helped give him teh ballet over Dubya in 2000. At least he had years of experience under his belt in the system as opposed to Obama.

Healthcare plan:

It's not easy to implement such a method in the US. Remember all that whining over "Socialism? In my America? NO!!" that has always been present in the media and conservative circles.

Financial sector:

Same there. "Laissez Faire" is practically a folk song in the US.

Bailout money for the banks:

This is where it irks me. The government intervening for medical services is Socialism, but the government intervening for saving the banks is not? Double standards!

What Obama should have done was to say: "Want a bailout, suckers? MY ASS!! I'll make a new bank instead!"

A lot of it is thanks to lobbying by Wall Street. However, it does prevent the banks from spending the bank's money on stock, if I remember correctly.
The banks wouldn't have needed the bailout money if they didnt lose it in teh first place.

Why, thank you Captain Obvious. How is this Obama's fault?
Also those bails outs ended up in the pockets of greedy CEO's who didnt put the money towards their strugglin companies.

Could this have been prevented? (honest question)

He is just as bad a president as duby and possibly worse.

You couldn't be more wrong, if only because relations with other countries have improved dramatically since his term started.

ThugsRook, if you're only here to rile people up, you'll force me to delete your posts as this is a sensitive topic.
