Interesting quotes?

Well, quoting is a natural thing in many cultures. We do it because a phrase makes us think about one topic, makes us consider things from an angle we didn't put our minds at or... because they're just too funny to let them pass without an afterthought.

I think it'd be nice to make a compilation of quotes we know or hear somewhere. Here's one I consider spot on and funny for starting up:

"Tattoos are an important marker of maturity in some cultures, and of immaturity in others."

Found in a beer related site for the Dos Equis brand.

What was I doing reading a beer site? Would you believe me I don't know how I ended there?

A few of my favourites from a variety of sources, some from memory though

I cannot quench your thirst,
because you who want the truth will not acknowledge it.
I cannot quench your thirst,
because the truth you hope for doesn't exist.
Even so, I want to quench your thirst,
Because I am the one who left you in the desert.

I was the most unhappy.
Because I knew that this maze had no exit.
He was the next most unhappy.
Because he didn't know this maze had no exit.
The other masses weren't unhappy.
Because they didn't even know they were in a maze.
-Frederica Bernkastel

The tallest blade of grass is the first to be cut down by the scythe - Russian saying

"Never fuck a wounded bear" - Misfits :L

"Everyone is unique, just like everyone else" - a friend told me that one

Thats all i can remember right now

"STOP WHINING"

"Who is your daddy, and what does he do?"

"SHUT UP!! SHUT UUP!!"

Among many others.

I suppose I could get out some really awesome, deep, philosophical quotes, but I'll just use my two favorites:

Five fingers are not the same. -Turkish proverb

Reality and life are not the same. -P.M. Dawn

(Apparently I like quotes that end with 'are not the same.')

Oh, there are so many good ones to choose from...

"Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine."

"When you come to a fork in the road, take it." (this one gets used a lot on road trips)

"Great minds think alike...and so do ours."

"I'd rather be in a boat with a drink on the rocks than in the drink with a boat on the rocks."

Oh Oh Modern Warfare 2 quote here ---

"History is written by the victors"

Infact let me get the whole speech...
Price: This is for the record. History is written by the victor. History is filled with liars. If he lives and we die, his truth becomes written - and ours is lost. Shepherd will be a hero. 'Cause all you need to change the world is one good lie and a river of blood. He's about to complete the greatest trick a liar ever played on history. His truth will be the truth. But only if he lives, and we die.
and possible the best line from the game:

"The healthy human mind doesn't wake up in the morning thinking this is its last day on earth. But I think that's a luxury, not a curse. To know you're close to the end is a kind of freedom. Good time to take... inventory. Out-gunned. Outnumbered. Out of our minds. On a suicide mission. But the sand and rocks here stained with thousands of years of warfare... they will remember us. For this. Because out of all our vast array of nightmares this is the one we choose for ourselves. We go forward like a breath exhaled from the earth. With vigor in our hearts and one goal in sight: We. Will. Kill him."
— Captain Price

Can't really remember any epic lines from black ops, but one from siren blood curse - "I'd rather have people think I'm crazy than die for being polite"

You all know this one: "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish and he'll eat for the rest of his life."

But then there's this: "Give a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. But light a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life."

Also, there's this one from Thomas Jefferson: "Merchants have no country. The mere spot they stand on does not constitute so strong an attachment as that from which they draw their gains.".

Love the Thomas Jefferson quote. The one about fish and stuff is very old, I don't know from where, but it's one of the best I have heard and read. The one about the fire was so cruel I just cracked laughing.

The one about Change is awesome. I'll be sure to use it from now on.

and Semix: I'm beginning to think you like Modern Warfare 2...

Also, regarding the one from Siren, I think that is a Japanese phrase. Kind of frowned upon too, unless I'm mixing it with some other line that carries a similar meaning in Japanese.
