Ladies and gents, chanka has been released. Its the first ever Dreamacst emu that plays comercial games. It does not play gdroms as cd roms can't read them. It plays of of iso's and burnt selfbooting dc games. If anyone needs the files to run it (the dc bios and flash files) please IM me.
You can get the emu here. It is recommended that you have a good graphics card of 64mb and at least a 1.5ghz - 2ghz processor. I have a 1.7ghz and geforce 2 64mb anf I run games on this alpha release between 22-46fps.

Great, now no one will buy Dreamcast games anymore and pirate it all.
This degrades the Dreamcast's image.

As stated by the crew of chankast.

Chankast is an advanced SEGA DREAMCAST emulator for x86 platforms.
This project started 3 months ago, it's a joint venture between baktery, unai and garrofi. It hasn't been easy, a lot of hours and headaches, but we think it's time to release an alpha version. We hope you will be surprise, you can play commercial games at a decent speed with a 2ghz CPU. Chankast is a very fast emulator with no hle parts.
We haven't done this emulator to promote piracy, it's a tribute to the great DC

No one is going to buy a dreamcast anyway, since it is defunct and the only place you can really be assured of getting one is online.
I know, I read that HuBBs. But that doesn't mean that it won't be used that way.

No one is going to buy a dreamcast anyway, since it is defunct and the only place you can really be assured of getting one is online.

That's what they get for not supporting the Dreamcast in the first place. Now there's no need to buy the console itself, which is bad. Consider that if people want the emulator, they need to have access to the Internet. Which means they have the possibility of buying a Dreamcast online.
Dreamcast used to be a novelty, and now they destroyed that.

It's not dead. There are still games coming out for it in Japan. And some home-brewn software was published as well. Then we have the whole home-brewn software/game phenomen as well.

Benoit, let it go. You can still play it, but let the era of the DC go.

The era may be over, but it's still alive. A console that still has game made for it is still alive.
