WHY Microsoft is bad

Postby Monocromatico » Mon Apr 12, 2004 2:41 am

Microsoft or any other oversized company is bad because they supress the smaller companies that can´t compete with them, causing unemployment.

Or not. How about the bigger company expanding some more and hiring more people. Thus eliminating unemployment.

Heh, not frequently. Sometimes, yes, when big companies arive to bring prosperity to an economically stagned place, and find absolutely no competition. It generates employment.
Bigger companies needs less admnistrators than those employed in, like, 100 companies that, together, can make it to the size of the bigger one.
Plus, smaller industries, family based ones specially, employ much more because there isn´t automated laboring available, so more workers are needed to reach a profitable level of production. Bigger industries can afford robots to do the job, so all they need is someone to press the buttons.
I´m exagerating, but it´s basically like this. During the late 80´s, the domestic economy here in Brazil opened its borders to the mega multinational companies that quickly sufocated the national economy, causing a sudden boom of unemployment (probably more because our national industry, after years of isolation, wasn´t prepared for a stronger competition).
The hell, my business is botany, not economy, I should stop thinking about these things :^P

Sorry, but I'm not hypocritic. I use Windows because I must. That's one thing all you Microsoft-lovers will never understand. I use Windows because I'm basically forced to, not because I like it! And I DID say that I liked Win95 OSR2!
If you say you like Microsoft, you haven't read that article and looked at the facts. They are downright dirty.
Everyone who says that without Microsoft we wouldn't have gotten to this is wrong. We would be using using superior Macintosh computers, probably, or another alternative would have come up, since Microsoft DIDN'T CREATE ANYTHING. It merely bought existing technology or copied it LIKE IT DID WITH MAC OS.
But nooo, Microsoft is good because we all have Windows. Windows is good because it's point-and-click (which wasn't invented by Microsoft).
Just because we use Windows doesn't make it good. You have no idea what kind of monster we are up against.
Know Windows Longhorn? Well, that's another story, but rest assured that they will rape your wallet and limit your PC use to the death.
You're blinded by Microsoft.
[Edit by Benoit on [TIME]1081727781[/TIME]]

You use windows because you must? Not true. There's many alternatives to windows. Ever tried Linux or SUN Microsystems?
What do you like so much about Macintosh computers? The fact that they're horribly slow and is limited to running only a few programs? In your head, what makes it better and sets it apart from the newer versions of Windows?
Rape your wallet and limit your PC use to the death? Sorry kid, sounds more like your mom. The price of Windows hardware is growing cheaper and cheaper everyday, and newer, more advanced computers are coming out quite often nowadays. And you don't need to pay much to keep your computer up to date, I've had this computer for three years, it's 128 MBs and it's running as if it were brand new.
Too bad you're the only person on this forum against Microsoft. I'm going to bet that tomorrow you'll post ANOTHER SPAM thread about the downsides of Dogs vs. Cats. So before you even consider posting $h!t like this here again, find the facts, give us some SOLID reasons and details as to why you agree or disagree with something.
Here's a pic for you, SPAMMER!
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
Image

I did give solid reasons, and they are all in that link, backed up.
Your post wasn't exactly intelligent. Let me explain:

You use windows because you must? Not true. There's many alternatives to windows. Ever tried Linux or SUN Microsystems?

Forced to use Windows because the programs I want to use are almost all on Windows. There's not much choice on the alternative systems.

What do you like so much about Macintosh computers? The fact that they're horribly slow and is limited to running only a few programs? In your head, what makes it better and sets it apart from the newer versions of Windows?

The Macintosh technology has its outer parts AND core replaced regularly, while PCs, at its core, never changes, thus never improved.

Software, and especially Microsoft software, are more demanding by the minute. If you want your PC to stay up-to-date, you'll have go to out each month to buy the latest technologies, chips and cards. It evolves too quickly. Never heard the expression that your PC is already outdated when you unpack it at home?
And about your PC, of course it'll keep working fine even if you don't upgrade. My PC, which is almost 6 years old, also still works fine. :)
And I've got more RAM than you (160 MB). :p

Too bad you're the only person on this forum against Microsoft.

I don't think so. Look further.
Then again, why should I mind what you post? After all, you are the person who made his 'entree' by insulting one of the regulars. Bad, bad.

Two of the regulars. Me and Siren.
And why, persay, would Microsoft get charges of monopolization if there were many and widely used alternatives? Lets face it. Microsoft does design software so that it is incompatible with other interfaces, thus screwing over the competition.

WHY Microsoft is bad

It is rip on microsoft because everyone else does.
Why not rip on IBM? IBM has it's own hierarchy and EVERYONE in the past had to BEND to what IBM wanted.
Remember the years of IBM compatible PC's needed? That was IBM doing the exact same thing as microsoft. Some of you young ones won't remember those days.
IBM had a virtual monopoly on servers and such. They also pioneer PC tech. I remember them having the first 120 gb HD before anyone else.
If you want IBM to use your product or hardware, you've got to bend to their specifications and Hierarchy.
But no one bashes IBM, Because they do servers and not PC's in the marketplace anymore.
So please let's not make this all about Microsoft as bad, because IBM is just as bad.
But no one sues them, WHY? They are BIG BLUE.
P.S. In the upcoming years, IBM will phase out windows for Linux. Now how is that for competition?
P.S.S. And Benoit is not a spammer, Your conduct was inexcusible and if I see it again, I will fire back. That is your warning
[Edit by Lord Khyron on [TIME]1081814572[/TIME]]

[Edit by Lord Khyron on [TIME]1081814677[/TIME]]

Rape your wallet and limit your PC use to the death? Sorry kid, sounds more like your mom.

Mom jokes? How deplorable.

The price of Windows hardware is growing cheaper and cheaper everyday, and newer, more advanced computers are coming out quite often nowadays. And you don't need to pay much to keep your computer up to date

The rush of advanced software is the problem. Instead of having truly improved software, companies add a bunch of innefficient extras and frills. That and the fact that microsoft put's catches in the software that usually results in the necessity of another upgrade is one reason to hate Micosoft. But Khyron is right, other companies do this too.
As for upgrades being cheap, Makaeveli needs to crawl out of the hole he lives in and look in a store. Do you call a 300 dollar word processor cheap? What about a 200 dollar video card? Because those are the prices of adequate upgrades.

Too bad you're the only person on this forum against Microsoft. I'm going to bet that tomorrow you'll post ANOTHER SPAM thread about the downsides of Dogs vs. Cats.

First of all, why is this spam? This is a General Discussion topic, so you can discuss whatever you want in it. If he did post Dogs vs. Cats, it still wouldn't be SPAM. Makaeveli, go take a modern dictionary and look up SPAM.

So before you even consider posting $h!t like this here again, find the facts, give us some SOLID reasons and details as to why you agree or disagree with something

Well, it looks like your post was a steaming pile in itself. Last time I checked, Benoit gave his reasons by providing that link. He explained that it backed his oppinion up. Did you even read it?
