Sega needs our support now more than ever.
But...
I can't say that they deserve it. It seems that they could care less about the PS fans, after all this is the last PSO and Sega did hand over the remake of PS1 to a third party developer who changed alot of things. (Alis is now a sex symbol! Sacrilage)
I think Sonic Heroes is decent, and it like seems high paced action, but I won't be buying it. Though the team is an innovation, it is not as big of one as I would have hoped. Why not have Sonic and his pals switch between the old 2-D and the new 3-D? That would take effort to work, but it would be worth it.
I also dislike how the Sonic adventure games are kinda...well... corny. In the famous words of Tommy Tallerico:
"Comb your mullets, Sonic's corny 80's music is back!"
And I found some of the cinematics are corny too. Keep in mind, maybe this changed. Maybe they fixed it up.
.....
Hopefully :)

I'm talking about stages.HAH! That is something you CAN'T argue with! They have basically the same types of levels as the Adventure games did (albeit, not the same gameplay inside)...the seaside one, a casino level and the ever present canyon-with-red-color-rocks! You CAN'T argue that they couldn't have been more creative there!

There's not much of a problem with that. That's scenery, it's gameplay that counts. Besides, if the stages were different, I doubt that it would be noted and called original. It would be noted as 'different'.

No they didn't hand the ps1 remake to a third party. How can you flesh out a game into a remake if you don't have the original team, which had all the original ideas? The only thing the other team can do is make up stuff... And then it's a hit-and-miss situation. :/

There's not much of a problem with that. That's scenery, it's gameplay that counts. Besides, if the stages were different, I doubt that it would be noted and called original. But if you're like most gamers, you'd like new locations and scenery, right? If all you ever seen in a game was the same three green, red and blue backgrounds, no matter how much the gameplay was worth, you would get bored with it faster because it didn't catch your eye as much as other games. I'm sure you're getting sick of a casino level (while fun) in every 3D sonic game...it wouldn't have been too hard for the level designers to come up with some new locations...I think that they're just getting lazy at Sega.
And Siren is right...the music, and in my opinion, the voice overs are one of the worst featuers of Sonic. The spacing of the dialog is enough to make me puke! Example of the dialog in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 (I don't know about Heroes): Tails:"Sonic, we have to stop Egg man!" 5 seconds later "Yes Tails, we must!" big pause "Look! He's getting away"
Stuff like that...and the script itself isn't great either. A little more effort would go a long way...
And Sega actually selling the rights to a the first PS game also shows laziness...they wouldn't have developed it on their own...which saddens me because they don't seem to care about the old games. ~_~

And the levels are different enough to keep me busy. It's not like I'm playing the same stage.
Also bear in mind that this game has 14 levels when playing with Sonic. Almost all are different from each other. You haven't played the whole game, it seems.

And Siren is right...the music, and in my opinion, the voice overs are one of the worst featuers of Sonic. I haven't seen/heard anything like what you mention.
The bottom line is, that, as with every game you play...
appreciate the game for what it is, and don't bash it for what it isn't.

Sorry Hubbs, my brain kinda jumbled that one. What I meant was the combination of the third party developers buying the rights to publish in America and the change of the teams who develope the re-make.
Look what that new team did! They changed Alis's personality! They got rid of the old art (the 80's art of the very first Ps1, not the old art of the remake) which was very appealing but they needed more of it. They made little changes all over that changed the over-all game alot.
Things like- Now you have to talk to everyone a bunch to advance the story line, like in the new RPG's. Alis is a sex symbol. The list goes on...
It saddens me that they chose to make PS1's remake an immitation of the new RPG's. The old PS1 had a quality that no matter how advanced other RPG's got, they could never duplicate. As for letting a 3rd party developer publish the game in North America instead of Sega doing that just shows Sega doesn't care a whole lot of the PS fans in North America (I'm not sure about europe, did the 3rd party developer do that too?)
And you have to get a little deeper than that if you claim they made Alis a sex symbol. How so and why? If its because they made her look hot well think about it. One because of the limited artistical resources back in the master system days alis couldn't look all that hot. But that doesn't make her a sex symbol.

If you want to argue whether Alis has been made a sex symbol, then go to the "What's the PhS remake?" thread in the Phantasy Star forum...I don't think her appearence has made her a sex symbol, (let's be honest: just because she has curves doesn't mean she is a sex symbol, and besides, her outfit is pretty modest) but I was rather disapointed that they changed her personality; from strong willed herione to bubbly, wussy, stereotypical anime chick...or so people say...
Benoit will still say that her boots' heels are too high... :p

I'm sorry for not having a more punctual reply, but here it is.
I've no problem with sexy girls in games, but I don't like how they made Alis more sexual. She looked pretty in the orginal art, but innocent like her personality. By making her more sexual, Alis just isn't Alis. Benoit made a similar reply in the PhS remake thread.

Well, Hubbs, take one look at Alis and her new curvsy figure and you'll notice that she is alot more sexy.
Okay?
As an afterthought, we really should really be argueing this out on the Phs Remake thread. %)
