Okay, I went back to my sources. Here's the deal...
Sonic Heroes for PS2 was ported by another company for Sonic Team, by using some cheap tool. Hence why it's badly ported. The official statement though, is that Sonic Team made it, but that's not true. The statement is like that because Naka doesn't want people to know they didn't port it. He told that in an interview (or after interview?) with someone I know who's a reporter. It's true.

No. And you still haven't provided your source(s). And I have even more sources. Gamespot, Happy Puppy, 1up, gamepro, egm, gmr. And so your gonna tell me all those people are idiots and don't know whpo ported the game over?

Now, as for the PS2...
The PS2 has only 4 MB of VRAM. It was originally intended to have more, 16 MB if I remember correctly. But shortly before the launch, the RAM chips manufacturer raised its prices to make more profit with the PS2's launch. So Sony bought less and put 4 MB instead.
The screen alone to display the graphics takes 2.6 MB. Then there's only 1.4 MB left to store textures, which is not much. All you can do with that is have graphics of the level of the PSX.
Of course developers have found a way around for many things. The graphics taking longer to appear on the screen is bullshit. What actually happens is that it takes time to copy data from the main RAM to the VRAM. That's one of the tricks they use. This also consumes some of the CPU's processing power needlessly. Then there's the anti-aliasing that some games implement by themselves, consuming even more processing power.
The PS2 can display more polygons than the Dreamcast, yes, but most of the time it doesn't even get there because of the limitations the VRAM and the CPU being used much.
About the CPU, it's a very good one. It's a RISC processor. RISC stands for Reduced Instruction Set Chip. It means the processor will know less instructions, but will be faster because it has less deciphering to do since knowing less instructions. It's better than XBox's CPU, despite having less Mhz. XBox has an Intel CISC CPU (CISC = Complex (not sure) Instruction Set Chip).
The Dreamcast was designed to be able to do anything, while the PS2 was designed to be a ferocious beast, which you have to know a lot of programming to code well for. Even Sega can't always make their PS2 games right. That's why Skies of Arcadia Legends was cancelled on the system; it would look and play less good than the original, which would be unacceptable.
The Dreamcast and GameCube have the huge advantage of having compressed VRAM. Dreamcast, in reality, has 24 MB of VRAM, uncompressed. The GameCube 32 MB.
The conclusion is that the PS2 was badly designed, and suffers from it. The Dreamcast is slightly superior, despite not being able to show as much polygons.
[/quote]
Yes the PS2 was designed badly and so was the Saturn. And people have yet to tap into the true power of each system. The PS2 is still suprior on almost all fronts. But yet, you live in denial and don't want to see the truth you hide behind techincality and hold it to it's word. I also want the source from which you got all your techincal data. Oh and if the DC was capable of anything, why the Slowdown in shenmue 1 and 2 when more than 6 people are on screen? ANd yet we look at a more superior looking game like silent hill 3 and see no slowdown.
