You don't need a chip anymore. Get the Mechassault/007 save exploit to install EvoX. Boom, modified xbox without ever opening the case. And believe me, it's worth it.

What are the spec requirements to run Doom3 smoothly on a pc, HuBBs or any American members who have this version of the game? Just curious since this topic is also about Doom 3.

The system requirements for Doom 3 are:
* CD ROM: 8X
* CPU Speed: Intel 1.5GHz; Athlon 1.7GHz
* CPU Type: Intel Pentium 4 Or AMD Athlon Or Greater
* Disk Space: 2.1GB
* Display: 16-bit DirectX 9.0 Compatible Sound Card
* Memory (RAM): 384MB
* Operating System Compatibility: Win2000/XP, Not Mac Compatible
* Other: 64MB 3D hardware Accelerator Card Required
So, if you want to run it smoothly, I'd suggest at least doubling all those specs.

Agreed. There's a saying...
"As soon as you've brought your PC home, it's obselete."
That's truer now then ever, sadly.

I wanna get Doom3. I have so many shoot 'em up games, but I don't think I have enough. :p

[Edit by Prince Noah on [TIME]1091824491[/TIME]]

The simplest way is always the better way: Just get the XBox version, if you've got an XBox console. Sod the PC version if you don't want to waste a lot of your hard-earned money on upgrading the PC specs just to play one measly game -- no matter how good it is.

The problem is that the XBox doesn't have many good games...
Personally, I hate the XBox.

Ok, Halo might not be original and is just like any other FPS, but it's fun and hilarious playing with friends on the multiplayer mode. But, hey-- it's your opinion and I respect that. :)

Ok, so you hate the XBox for currently unknown reasons, but you got to admit that it's a far more better alternative than to pay a lot of money to upgrade your pc only to play a single game that'll run smoothly.

I don't particularly like the X-Box either, but the GC is in serious need of some third party support. And I see a bunch of great looking Capcom, SNK and Sammy fighting games being released for the X-Box and PS2 (or soon to be released) and many other titles that GC owners seem to be missing out on, and I think the purchase of an X-Box might have been wiser.
However, my copy of PSO:III almost makes up for it. :)

I don't like FPS games much, so scrap Halo.
Star Wars: KOTOR is indeed, from what I hear, a great game.
Dead or Alive 3 is not that much better than Dead or Alive 2... Just a face lift, that's all.
The other games I don't know about.
Essentially, the XBox doesn't have many games that interest me, or are exclusive to the XBox, and they feel too like PC games, not like console games, and I don't like that. And, it's by Microsoft, the company who basically owns the PC market, and causes our PCs to be obselete by the time we get home with them. I don't want them to 'destroy' or monopolize yet another market.
I will admit that buying an XBox is better than upgrading your PC, but an XBox is still expensive, and I'm going to get a new PC in a couple of months anyway, I hope.
With time, we might all get a new PC, which makes the XBox purchase void.

You're going to get a new PC because you have to, or because you want to? I thought you were, mainly against having to upgrading?

[Edit by LaconianShot on [TIME]1091837139[/TIME]]
