[10 September 2008]-- Phantasy Star 0 for Nintendo DS

Postby BenoitRen » Wed Sep 10, 2008 10:02 pm

The latest Famitsu has revealed that Sega will be releasing Phantasy Star 0 on the Nintendo DS. No, this likely won't be an original series entry, as the gameplay is like PSO.

The character designs are by Toshiyuki Kubooka of THE iDOLM@STER fame, and the scenario by mystery novel writer Teru Arai and former PSO quest honcho Tooru Shiwasu. One method of communication will be by stylus sketches à la PictoChat.

Damn! I'd love to see those scans translated, but I'm not good enough with Japanese to read fuzzy scans (need them crisp!). Where's Rebecka Capowski when you need her? ^^

Awesome! I might buy a DS just for this! It does look really really PSO-like rather than traditional PS like though.

Here are the same scans, clearer:

I can't really read Japanese, but I think the big pink text kanji says "it is not PSO for DS, it's the completely new PS0", however, the small pink text in the left says

reikyasuto (RAcast)
foma-ru (FOmarl)
reima- (RAmar)
hyu-ma- (HUmar), hyu-ma-ru (HUmarl)
hanyu-mu (HUnewm)
hyu-kyashi-ru (HUcaseal), fonyue-ru (FOnewearl)

Look how different HUmar and RAmar's clothes are from PSO.

Some translation here:

That person has also linked to their official page with screenshots, and comments about it.

Looking at the PS0 screenshots, it looks like it's set in a less futuristic place than PSO. I'm liking the symbol chat. The character designs are just on the verge of getting far too cutesy, but I love it so far! Hope the online gameplay is as good/better than PSO. *blahblah*

I have connections in japan, so I can get a direct import from there. Yeah, I'm one of the lucky ones! I can't wait for its release!
I wonder what people will see in the final days?

unless you are getting it for free or cheaper from you connections I would stick with someone like National console support to import your games.

I get them free. My connection is my cousin who moved there a few years back. He always gets two copies, one for himself and one for me. Of course, the hardware modding for the consoles wasn't exactly cheap, but I had it done.

Sounds great! However, I need to see some footage first. =P Hopefully they will do a good job on the battle system as well as character advancement.
