What are you talking about? No servers are being deactivated, as far as I know.

It is true, they are going down as of March 30. Last day to subscribe is January 29th I believe. Therefore I will be coming back. February and March are free months.

This is disapointing I suppose. I will never be able to improve my character beyond a few percentages here and there.

WTF? Where did this come from? I checked PSOW only days ago!

This sucks. So we get the shaft and the Xbox 360 doesn't, while also still receiving updates?! It's not fair. :(

I guess it does make sense from their point of view. The PS2/PC population is small, while the Xbox 360 servers are always booming with players.

I raise my eye brow at this, though:
Official PSU site wrote:While we are sad to see the PC/PS2 version of Phantasy Star Universe end, the year 2010 is the 10th anniversary of Phantasy Star Online -- and this server / service closure is helping to pave the way for bigger and better things for the Phantasy Star franchise in the very near future!

Really? Like what? Nothing is planned, and Phantasy Star 0 isn't extensible.

Finally, they should release a patch that disables the connection requirement when playing Story Mode and Extra Mode.

Thankfully Edward went back and realized that anyone who ever had a PSU account can play the last months for free, not just people who subscribe NOW NOW NOW.

This is still a retarded move, though, and there's two things that NEED to be done for me not to be pissed about it:

Transfer online characters to offline mode, and

Actually have offline mode match online for customization options. (Hair, clothing, weapons, etc..)

Mostly? I'm not done ogling my characters yet, dammit!

Yes, he posted as such in a thread. However, the official announcements haven't been updated to reflect this, so I remain skeptical. It wouldn't have been the first time they screwed up.

It looks like you just have to have a PSU account with them, which you only get through having paid for a subscription at least once. Sega refers to accounts as "a subscription", even if your actual subscription isn't active.

I didn't think about this. I suppose as of now we will be losing our characters.

I'm pretty proud of my character. I've never been so powerful in a video game before...haha. Memories are all I need at this point of the game though.

I personally enjoyed PSU more than PSO. It had some rough spots, but PSZero and PSP2 showed me that Sega can still handle this series. I look forward to the next major console instalment.

If what edward has said is true, lets have a PSCave farwell to the PC/PS2 servers once it goes free.

Well it's free now.. 1 star, I guess most people don't see the point in coming on now.. even if it is free.

Most people probably thought the period started on the 30th (I did, but I checked anyway), so I expected the population to rise in the next few days.

I saw thriwren yesterday, who joined my solo MAG+ run. How about everyone else? :)

I say the one that will come back would of made a come back after awile, and the are some that wont comeback no matter what (maybe since they are on 360 now or got tired of the updates or what ever).

I've been on occasionally. What's cool is that my secondary account is accessible again after for whatever reason the billing site wouldn't let me renew it last year.
