Random spikes would be so brutally painful. XD

"Hey, let's walk over to that gorgeous chest, and... OH WHAT THE HELL, WHERE DID THOSE SPIKES COME FROM? OGOD, MY PLENTIFUL HP IS NO LONGER ABUNDANT."

I say go for it, man. =P You could only make it worse by pulling a DW2 and having certain spots conceal holes in the floor that drop you back down a floor or two. But this is just me feeding you bad ideas. =p

Well they wouldn't be random, there would be clues as to where they are... I also don't think that holes would be out of the question, think about it, in PS1, the dungeons had that, yes it was annoying has hell but it added to the difficulty .

It's been a while since I posted anything about the game and such, well today I had some time on my hands and figured, why not try something in good old Photoshop. Since the game itself is mostly held on Palma, I thought that instead of ripping the old monsters and using them with their animations in battle, that I'd instead remake them. So here's the result for Wing Eye.

Different while still keeping it's style.

Okay, so as I said, I'm working on it's attack animation which has a few frames of animation done so far, the problem is that I'm trying to have it fly towards the screen in a "poor man's" 3D effect, but I'm stuck with one frame. The one in which it actually attacks with it's wings, for some reason, I just can't seem to figure it out at the moment.
Anyway, here's one of the frames.

Nope none to talk about and I have no good excuse as well. I finally figured out that making a game by ones self is a long process that doesn't really get easier.
This game was a good learning experience though and I plan on either continuing it or remaking everything in 3D as well as encoding the new game in a whole different format. I'm tired of using RPG Maker you see?

Now I've also been thinking of releasing my graphics to everyone, but I'll need to look for them in my backup files.

If ever I make a new game though, it won't be about Phantasy Star because I would like to actually sell it at one point and if I don't want problems with copy rights and all then I'll need to stay clear of that iconic name.

It really is a shame though, I put a lot of work into my game but I just can't seem to find the time lately. Who knows though, I might put up a playable demo of the progress I made someday.

You don't want to go 3D because that means a lot more work than a 2D game.

3D graphics adds more complexity to your drawing pipeline. You have to calculate shapes, transform them, draw them, add textures to them, and point a camera at them. This doesn't only make programming harder; it also makes the creative process more involved.

With 2D graphics it's much easier. You just make your graphics and then slap them on the screen.
