Oh goodness........ goodness...... when i found out the news....... i broke into tears..... i'm still crying... can't stop crying...... thankyou so much..... you're so awesome.

By the way... i don't think it's a good idea to actually offer the full game... you should make a patch.... that way Sega can't step in and demand you stop allowing the download... sega has been being a pain to the fans lately... it's not right that they're like this.. but i am fairly sure they would send a cease and desist order.
They put a stop to a long running project not long ago that was made having to do with Streets of Rage... i could see them doing the same with this project... sega no longer cares about the fans like they used to.

If anyone ends up receiving such a letter, can I have a look at it and their email address?
I'd like to say a couple things stuck here in my throat. As politely as possible, of course...

EDIT: I decided to only provide the files that are needed to translate the game, not the complete ISO, from my webspace. If anyone has any problems going forward, please contact me by PM. This is likely the safer way to do this. Missagh may do things differently, and that's fine. Missagh seems to have a good relationship with Sega, whereas I am an unknown.

Still, there are some difference between this situation and the SoR one:

1. The SoR fan game was made completely from scratch and had an online multiplayer option built in.

2. This is probably the bigger difference: Sega's SoR series is available for play online, so Sega is still marketing the game and making a profit. Thus, the SoR fan game could be seen as affecting its profits.

If the PSG games were being offered for play on PSN or Steam or something, this would be an issue. If this was a translation of PSU, PSO, and the like, I think they'd pounce on it instantly, before I even got to finish it. The truth is, the Sega Ages games were never released outside of Japan; they have not been manufactured for nearly 10 years; they have never been offered online in any shape or form by Sega; they are not making money nor losing money off this. It does not mean that there's a 0% chance of them sending a C & D, but there's been quite a few ISOs of other Phantasy Star properties that they haven't challenged.

That is also a reason why I want to wait a couple of months before considering working on G2...

I just noticed you put BIOS in your distro, at least in the Noah version. Are you sure you want those in there? It seems to me the emulators avoid posting them out of legal concerns.

EDIT: And I died within 15 minutes of first boot.... You can't slam in unprepared like in PSIV!

The chest has 2000 meseta- I was murdered by a scorpion despite having armor and shield on the coast right next to the first town east. I mis-judged its health and thought I could kill it without healing.

Yeah, just like in the old one.. it's best to avoid those Scorpions at first... fight monster flys then level up and try fighting scorpions..
Also.. try not to walk too far from town.
Sad thing is... once you're on your way to get Noah and you have Odin.. it starts getting pretty hard...
By the way.. what are people using to play this game? I'm using PCSX2 1.0.0 and i keep getting this damn.. ripping effect....
Does any one know how i could play this on my actual PS2?

What is the ripping effect? Is it sound or graphics? I had issues with sound. Using the speedhacks and making sure the sound isn't synchronized in the emulator's settings may help.

I have made some updates to the downloading. I now provide only the files that need to be changed, making it a 20MB download versus a 60+MB. However, last night I derped and made a typo in what to rename the SLPM file. It's SLPM_623. I made just the new ReadMe file available for download and updated the zip archives. I have also tested the files by downloading them, doing a side-by-side binary compare, and testing them in the emulator myself. I have had no problems except the sound lag/chopping effect; then again, I have done all this on a laptop with a Centrino Duo and 2gb of RAM, so I expect most of the issue due to the emulator and not the game itself. Since everyone's setup is different, I would recommend visiting the PSCX2 site and adjusting the emulator settings. I know some people are trying to see if this game will work on PS2; I cannot verify it at this time.

If you have problems, please PM me, and let me know what the issue is, which zip you downloaded (Lutz vs. Noah), and if it was the full ISO or the replaced files only. I may need screenshots or the copy of your file to investigate. I do apologize for any problems; this is the first mod I've ever done, and I hope there haven't been too many upset or disappointed people.

The ripping i spoke of is the screen it's self, it seperates in random spots on screen... still messing with settings... i prolly need to put some more RAM in my computer.
If anyone figures out a way to play it on an actual PS2, lemme know.

Try messing with the interlace- hit F5, and it'll switch modes. It runs perfect on my current computer, but with my last laptop you had to experiment a little to get the graphics to mesh right- your computer probably sits below the recommended specs for PSCX2.

I suspect if you have rigged your PS2 to accept homebrews you just need to burn the ISO to a DVD.

For audio, I've always used Timestretch syncing- if the system runs slow, it'll just drag out the music notes to keep in time.

I tend to use the following settings in PCSX2:
Renderer: DirectD39 (Hardware)
Interlacing: Blend bff (slight blur, 1/2 fps)
D3D internal resolution: I have Native PS2 resolution checked
Hardware Mode Settings: I have Logarithmic Z checked and Alpha correction checked.

I have also provided a screenshot to help.

PS: I do remember in terms of sound that I got the lag with the actual PS2 game and the unchanged ISO, so that may require the adjustment carlsojos mentioned (thanks!).

Another quick tip: If your computer is equipped with DirectX10, make sure you run the GS plugin to use it in hardware mode. If it doesn't work correctly, then set it back to Direct3D9 hardware, and if that doesn't work right try the software modes as last resort.

I've had to convert to 7 at my work- it's compatibility issues can be a pain to work out, but I've found that disabling User Account Control makes it quite nice; being able to run all 8 gigs of RAM really helps.

I have DirectX 9.0c on my computer, with the settings I have, the graphics seem to be fine.
