Glorious! Thank you Kyence and Tryphon, and a big congratulations on finishing it! To my surprise it was hardly any trouble at all to get PCSX2 running under GNU/Linux, and the patch works beautifully. (Some graphics glitches on the map, but I hope that I will be able to remedy that [and besides, after playing a while I hardly notice it]).

Cheers!

I've seen some people mentioning graphical glitches on the overworld map. When I first started playing the game on my PS2 I noticed some pretty heavy graphical errors to the sprites after returning to the overworld map following random encounters. I have since fixed the issue and it runs incredibly well. So, I'm wondering if someone could capture an image of the glitches they are seeing on the PCSX2. If they look anything like mine did, I might be able to help.

I solved it by setting interlacing to None rather than Auto (other interlacing options worked as well), so it seems to have been a PCSX2-issue.

Hey! Just joined to show my appreciation for this project.
9h+ and i'm loving the translation. I play PSO since it came out, however I never touched the previous PS games.
I always wanted to introduce myself to the series by starting with this remake, but since I had no JP knowledge I was pretty much doomed.
Now, after all these years I'm finally playing this classic and I'm glad someone put so much effort into it.
Thank you Kyence. :clap:

Does anyone actually think SEGA has taken notice of this?
This has already become big among the Classics Fans...

Also, Kyence, could you tell me what you named the prisoness and the gasman?
I have their ripped arts (courtesy of Orakio's team ;D) and wanted to name them properly.

Not really a translation issue, but I'm having an hard time finding the hovercraft. I already got the Amber Eye, Landrover and Flute... Townspeople only talk about how victorious I am for getting the claw and defeating the dragon, and that I need a gas to reach some town.
I flew to Bortevo and searched all the junk piles and there's nothing left there to get.
What should I do?

Have you tried the Talk function that is available from the camp menu?

@xrick:

The names were what they were in the Japanese version:

The Prisoness In Torua was named Mischa. Gasman was simply called Gasman
You can download my zip files and open the ones that are EVENT and SLPM in a hex editor that can show you the hex meanings as SHIFT-JIS (MadEdit is what I used, and it's free!) All of the dialogue is in there, uncompressed. You just have to be careful of a couple of codes that can't be changed, but for translating into another language first before encoding, it's all there. PM me if you'd like more info.

@Treamcaster:

This game is a tricky mofo in that you have to talk to certain people to unlock events. First, talk to Luveno's assistant in Gothic. See if he mentions developing a vehicle to cross lava. Talk to him until he repeats what he says. Then, go to Casba and speak to a Timmy. He should mention the hydrofoil (in the game it was called a FlowMaster (kinda derpy), but that and Hovercraft have too many letters, and hydrofoil means the same thing and fits, so, I pulled the synonym card. Talk to him until he mentions that he tossed it in Bortevo because it broke.

If for some reason that doesn't work, you may have to talk to more people or use the "Say" command until it comes up that you need to reach Drasgow. You can use it anytime in a town or the world map by using the L1 key. Check this site's walkthrough, too - it may have another way to get it!

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies.
Wow, I was writing down in this post the quotes I was getting from the game and then I realized what was causing the problem so I had to edit it all over haha.

I have been using the "say" function since the beginning of the game so that wasn't really the problem, or was it?

Here's the thing, I was using it in Motavia and so the sayings wouldn't change! I had to trigger it in Palma in order for them to change. Fun thing, I pulled the "say" function in Bortevo and then the dialogue showing something like "we need to get to Bortevo..blabla" came up. I was already there lol, I approached the trash and voila: "FOUND HYDROFOIL ."!! What a fail from a programming perspective!

Yeah, the programming for the say command can be silly at times, but that cant be blamed on me lol. If you have been using it all along it was probably one conversation missed in the towns you got.
I am happy you acquired it. Now, instead of going to the item menu, get as close to water as you can and hit R1. It will autoselect the hydrofoil. If you are on land, the landrover will be used instead.
