Phantasy Star Cave Message Board

A couple of days ago I finished wading through the Phantasy Star fan art archive. First I categorised them by artist, where I could find his/her signature. Next I categorised the remaining ones by character and game.

Now I have 110 pieces of artwork that I know neither the artist of nor which character(s) they represent. If you have some time, please look through the JavaScript-driven gallery I made for those. If you know anything about a piece, please let me know.

I'm unsure of 2, 72, 88, 183, 205, 311, 364, 380, 393, 406, 416, 425, 641, 684, 691, 705, 706, 707, 719, 739, 788, 791, 792, 798, 807, 808, 817, 818, and 833

31, 123, 149, 152, 155, 203, 204, 235, 236, 247, 250, 302, 306, 308, 353, 366, 405, 482, 716, and 824 seem to be heavily altered or hybrid characters
361 is the same as 302
414 and 496 are the same as 405

1, 25, 38, 40, 105, 106, 110, 198, 210, 214, 282, 300, 301, 303, 304, 305, 307, 359, 363, 455, 596, 620, 628, 666, 804, 805, 806, and 810 seem to be completely random


32, 317, and 758 might be Lena
41 might to be Mieu
66 and 839 might be Rika
248, 423, 467, 574, 643 and 800 might be Nei
394 seems to be Rhys, Ayn, and, judging by the hair of the blacked out one, Aron
451, 609, 629 and 732 might be Rune
799 might be Zio

36 is Lyle without his eyepatch
61 is Mina
93 is NeiFirst
370 is Lyle
386 is Nei
449 is Rudo
473 is an Androcop
573 is Rolf and the first Dark Force
603 is Maia
794 is Eiko, a character from Final Fantasy 9
840 is either Nei or NeiFirst

There's so many pieces of art in there that don't even look like PS art. Like all those catgirl drawings... >_>

CAT FANG Family. Nekomimi's or Nekomatas in the Disgaea world.

There is also the fact that Numans are a mixture of MUSK CAT and BIomonster dna..

But still, main chars in PS don't have cat ears.

Rika has Pikachu ears anyways, Black tips XD

386 - Nei (it says 'Cooking-Nei')
423 - Nei (it says 'Nei Second')
449 - Rudo?
455 - Thea?
473 - RobotCop (PS1)
496 - Is this PS? Anyway it appears twice...
573 - Ad for PS, probably for 2 making it Rolf and DF.
804-807 - Nei and Rolf (or maybe Rika and Chaz...)
808 - Rika and Nei
810 - Rolf and Nei (Rika and Chaz?) and some unknown.
817 - Nei and Rolf. =)

603 is Maia

598 (was misplaced) is the coloured version of it, and there she has brown hair, so it can't be Maia.

234 is not Nei and 204 is not Nei. Nei's ears DO NOT BRANCH RIGHT.

204 is more like a fonewearl.

I repeat: No NUMAN in PS/PSO has freaking cat ears! Therefore, cat ears are not chars.

Nei has Numan ears. NOT cat ears.

Nuku Nuku has cat ears, Catfangs have cat ears..

282 appears to be Roomi, from some fighting game I can't quite name, or at least someone scrawnier dressed up as her. Can't quite tell.

I've gone through Bigxena's site, which has her art plus that of her friend, Babykefka. I've been able to sort a lot of artwork that way. The unknown artwork count is now at 64.

Tried searching the Internet for the credited authors, but only found Goddem's site and was able to look up some art pieces of V-Alis on archive.org.
