You have to highlight the text by selecting it with your mouse. I considered implementing it with a CSS hover pseudo class so hovering over the text would make it visible, but I worried that it might lead to accidentally making it visible.

To me I get a big white box, and have to highlight it to read it. I like it.

I know, Zucca, and I wonder why it doesn't work for you. It's just CSS. In the Solaris skin, both the text and the background colour are white. In the classic skin, it's black.

It seems to be a bug in Chromium 6.
It works fine with MicroB.

Where are those skins? I only have "prosilver" and "darkside"

The skin selection has changed with the upgrade to phpBB3. They haven't been modified to have spoiler tags.
