It was PS2 that had that subtitle, not PSg:2...

PSGEN 2 still refer to this subtitle, it's the last sentence of the game. And this subtitle is also in the front cover of the game.

We personally put it in the french translation, but I guess Kyence changed her mind and decided to not put it. Not a big deal anyway.

But I still think it's irrelevant to the game's title other than being in the cover.

I remember a period for a while earlier in the translation's life where original names was leading pretty clearly. The decision was probably made then, just no one closed the poll.

I remember that too, however it was said that 2 versions of the patch would be made just like Phantasy Star Gen 1.

The poll should've been closed a long time ago. I do agree on that.
The purpose of a poll is to get feedback and information, not necessarily that the translators HAVE to abide by the majority decision. The number of people who wanted the original Japanese names is not insignificant.

Let them finish the translation and then perhaps we can get some kind of text/name editor released or an alternative version made available with the English names; this is something they can do AFTER there is already a release out.

Check the previous few posts. There is no more need to delay things because names are different.

The poll isn't ignored From what I heard from Kyence, there will be two final versions, one with Japanese names, and another one with English names.

I am the one who adviced her to only use one version for the beta-test and to wait until the final version to release two versions, which is easier to handle to fix bugs/typos/etc....

But yeah, as Tryphon said, a poll is just a poll. Something you use to get opinions, it doesn't mean you have to follow this opinion.

A few years ago, the poll actually was in favor of the original Japanese names. It was only recently--until after the project was already underway--that the poll, kept open for some reason, garnered preference for the Genesis names.

Yeah, I'm under the impression that the first public beta release will be original names only, and the final release patch will have both an original names and a US names version.

The best of both worlds, really.
