Even if it's not strictly anime... Solid Snake is the best hero. Never gives up, no matter how bad things look, even choosing self sacrifice instead of allowing a catastrophe... And man, does he suffer right until the end...

Luffy from one piece ftw! Luffy will never get beat, he's cocky as hell, he's got the right attitude for someone as powerful as he is, and he's a rubberband!
