PS3 is my second favorite, yes. And I am trying to accept that they are not going to remake it.

[Edit by Monocromatico on [TIME]1106456058[/TIME]]

Yeah, leaving out PSIII is kind of an insult to the series, IMHO.

I find it sad that they won't remake PS3, because it's the game which could have profited the most from a remake. Just think about it, how much potential this game has, had they made the work to flesh out the story more...

Zoothe, an even bigger insult to the series is that Sega isn't more involved in the remakes that are being made.

that's not a bad thing. Sega isn't perfect. lately they've been making games that are barely decent.

Zoothe, an even bigger insult to the series is that Sega isn't more involved in the remakes that are being made.

I agree... but if that's what it takes to even get the remakes at all, then I'm fine with it. I know there are a few here that would say "no Sega, no remakes", but I'm just glad that someone out there is doing them.

I'd agree with your last statement. However, a lack of involvement on Sega's part really makes me wonder where their priorities lie...

Sega's priorities is staying alive. they can no longer manage a console of their own and I think Sammy studios is one reason why Sega is still around.
the remakes are looking great so it doesnt matter if Sega is not making those in-house.

Sega probably didn't get involved with the remakes because it knew they wouldn't be huge sellers. The first remake didn't really sell a ton in Japan, and I'd suspect that US sales won't be much to talk about either. This is why the remakes are considered budget titles; spend little money, hope to make a profit. If Sega actually thought there was money to made in remaking these games they'd probably do it themselves and the overhaul would be more extensive. Alas, it's apparent how Sega views them.
If Sega still believes in the Phantasy Star name, it's only if the name ends with "Online".

PSIII, on the other hand, need not be included. It is not a real PS game, in the fact that PS I, II, and IV fit together, while PSIII has no few references to any of the other PS games, and doesn't fit.

Not a real PS game?? WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?!? You can't just exclude it as a PS game because it doesn't take place in the Algol system or because the game format is different or for some other like reason. IT IS CONNECTED with the history of Algol, or else how else would they have come up with the idea? 400 random spaceships that came from...where? The Andromeda Star System? I don't think so. %)
The characters use weapons made of the exact same material as the weapons in PSII and IV. Certainly no other games have ever used 'Laconian' weapons/armor than the PS series. That goes for items as well. And although they are used and set up differently, the techniques are of the same name.
I could come up with several more points, but I think this suffices.

We have to come back to the time when PS3 was released. There was no PS4 to compare with. It was clear to everybody that PS3 was the way the Phantasy Star Saga was going to be from there and on. Everyone was ok with it until PS4 came out, taking a detour back to the Algol System, leaving PS3 "out of place". In fact, PS4 was mor eout of place, since it doesn´t follow the 3rd episode of the series, breaking the stabilished sequence.
