No, it's not fake.

The text is from this IGN article.
'SEGA Ages: Phantasy Star Trilogy
Kind of bizarre because its missing Generations of Doom, Phantasy Star Trilogy will boast the remade iterations of Phantasy Star: Generation 1, Phantasy Star II, and Phantasy Star IV: End of the Millennium. Just like the Classics Collection, Phantasy Star Trilogy will boast improved graphics, enhanced soundtracks, and additional features not present in the original versions of the games. RPG fans should mark their calendars now; PST is due to hit retailers in Q1 2005.'
I know this is news, though I've already been informed about this by one of the Conspiracy Entertainment crew. I was going to add the news back then in the upcoming Phantasy Star Generation 1 section, but the mac harddrive crash came in the way :/
Best regards,
--// Missagh Alami, webmaster of PS Cave

Missagh posted it as news on May 27.
Looks like they gave up on releasing all the PS: Generations games one by one and decided to release them all at once... this is a bad sign that they are rushing to make the other too ready, or that the first game didn´t sell as well as they expected...

We already know that Conspiracy is going to release the three remakes in the US and in Europe and that they're going to be released in one package rather than three. What has got to be fake is the release date. August of THIS year? No way.
By the way, still really looking forward to that PST remake section!
[size=small][Edit by zoothe on [TIME]1087015522[/TIME]][/size]

Look, here's some of the product specs:
[TAB]
Phantasy Star Trilogy
Publisher: Jack of all Games
Developer: Jack of all Games
Platform: PS2
Category: Role Playing
That's the key. It is being developed by Conspiracy games, not Jack of all games.
Even the company's name suggests a prank. Besides they said it would be unveiled - by conspiracv games - at Q1 2005.

It is being developed by Conspiracy games, not Jack of all games.
Even the company's name suggests a prank.

Not really. I took this off the Conspiracy Website:

March 4, 2004:
CONSPIRACY PROUDLY APPOINTS JACK OF ALL GAMES AS THEIR NEW NATIONAL DISTRIBUTOR
Conspiracy Entertainment Corporation (cpye.ob) today announced the appointment of Jack of All Games, Inc., as their exclusive North American distributor.
SANTA MONICA, CA – March 4, 2004 – Jack of All Games, a wholly owned subsidiary of Take Two Interactive Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: TTWO), is the largest distributor of video game software, hardware, and accessories in North America. Jack of All Games maintains warehouse facilities and sales offices in Ohio and Toronto, Canada and continues to capitalize on the growing installed base of hardware and the proliferation of software titles and outlets to purchase software. It has established a strong presence in the budget segment of the business due to its expanding portfolio of value-priced products and its expertise in selling these titles.

Here's what I think is going on: Conspiracy Games has the first collection of Sega Ages remakes set for a Q3 2004 release. That's right around August right? In preparation, they're probably also readying their PS Trilogy marketing strategy so that they can put it out as soon as possible (which would be nice). So, what better way to get some hype going about this first collection coming out in August than to also throw the PS remakes in there. It would be more noticeable. So yeah, Conspiracy probably has no intention of making the August 2nd release date for the PS set, just the other one (Golden Axe, Monaco GP etc.).

[size=small][Edit by zoothe on [TIME]1087042134[/TIME]][/size]

Yeah, it's nice to at least see the remakes making steps in the right direction towards a non-Japanese release. What I really want to see is something on the PS2 and PS4 remakes. You'd think there'd be pictures or something by now, right?

Umm...except that the description mentions PSIII, which was not planned to be released. I say it's a hoax.

Not so much a hoax as GameStop trying desperately to drum up presales for yet another RPG that will wind up getting creamed by the latest Squenix travesty... >:/

IF I recall, there was a post regarding the PStrilogy in the PSCave forums right after it was announced. The guy posting it was a real goof-off, trying to bastardize Missagh ofr not giving credit where it was due or something. Needless to say, the thread was deleted.
I wrote a blurb afterthe debate, although the thread was nixed before there could be any discussion regarding the trilogy.
I for one am super excited about it. I hope that when putting PS2 together, 3D ages takes some queues from Ill-intent's manga. I would like to see a more 'involved' PS2, especially since the ps2 universe has such a strong background.
