More Gaidens!

So it's now after PS- TEOTM. And we're now on Ragol, wherever that is. But in the Compendium, the designers said that they wanted to ultimately expand on a lot of the characters' stories and lives outside of the main story settings. <p>By all accounts, the PSO series is doing quite well. So why not release more side-story games in between the big releases? Release them for GBA/DS, where more oldschoolish RPGs live! I know... har dee har... like THAT'LL ever happen. X<<p>-A Nero spy caper, as he uncovers the nature of Lassic.<p>-Or perhaps a game of war, skullduggery, and political intrigue set during the feudal age, when Waizz unites Palma.<br> <br>Any sideplots that any of you want expanded (or have already been expanded on that you have enjoyed)? I don't think gaidens would sell as well as full fledged independant plotlines. <p>take Phantasy Star Universe, it's a brand new universe that shares some elements from PSO (online) and the classic PS games (offline full fledged story)<p>it's definitelly gonna sell better than, says, PSO Blue Burst, because PSOBB is basically an expansion pack compared to what PSU will offer. <p>besides Side Stories depend on the source material to give it life. If a player hasn't played the game(s) the side story is based on, it's not gonna grab hold of them as much as if it were a world in itself. <p>

I guess I defined "Gaidens" in the PS mythos as "anything occurring outside of the epic, every-1000-year Dark Force battles".<p>Admittedly, it is probably an imprecise use of the word at best.<p>But the intent of my post was not to describe a viable financial model for Sonic Team to pursue... it was merely plot-based ruminations of mine based off of glimpses into other storylines seen throughout the PS series and, also, in the PS Compendium. Universe expansion can be a tricky business when discussed within the confines of, well, a business, as with Sonic Team. But we are under no such constraints, now are we? :p<p>I was just trying to spark some creative conversation. <sighs><p>Coptombria<p><i>Laerma Nuts give you WINGS!</i>
