Phantasy Star 2 sucks.

Discuss anything related to the Phantasy Star series

I didn't like PSII at first when I tried playing it (how long it takes to build up your characters in the beginning really was time-consuming). But when I gave it another chance, I definitly enjoyed it more.

Sure, when I was younger I didn't pay much attention to story, but now I can appreciate it and understand what's going on. :D Also, the challenge behind the battles and the the design for the dungeons was always very intriguing! There was never any clear path, as you couldn't tell if one of those pads (for lack of a better word) would take you up or down, so memory was key to getting through the monotonous labyrinths.

While everyone may harbor their own opinion about this game, I suppose that we are entitled to our own thoughts. To say that the game sucks without any reasoning or explanation isn't really a good argument, needless to say.

Actually there were arrows on them telling you which direction they went... =)

In defense, I never noticed that myself until halfway through the game. :(

HAha.. You forget the most annoying ps2 bug..

MACHINES have a ANTI-ONEHIT-KILL function.

Seriously, take your NAZAN against 2 machines when Mota floods. You will do more than enough damage to kill them both, but they survive!

Even with the dispersed damage, one should still die. They do not..

Try it sometime. The machines have a anti one hit tech kill defense!

It could have something to do with the manual stating that FOI is specifically designed to kill machines while the other techs aren't...

Still amusing. Try it sometime..

The only other bad thing about PS 2 is every 4 levels you get a STAT Boost. The problem is.. the stat boost can be LESS than what you get! ROFL..

Ever had a Rolf with only enough TP to use one megid? I did O.o

If I were bad at playing PSII, I wouldn't have completed the game twice. So nyah.

Translation: it's too difficult.

Nothing wrong with difficulty, but that's not my point. It's great to have difficult games, but if they're not fun and engaging, why should I bother? I think I've been pretty generous with this game, considering that it cost me £50 back in the good old nineties, what with the cheesy fashion, the bad haircuts, and the overpriced 16-bit games.

Why does it have to be a background of the area? It doesn't. It's just what most RPGs do. PSII chose a different design.

If I want that kind of background, I'd be watching Tron. But I'm not watching Tron, I'm playing some overrated rpg that hasn't got a variety of different battle backgrounds. It would've been nice if the graphic designer wasn't so lazy with number 2. (They got it right with the last game.)

But I'm not talking about PSG2, I'm talking about the original. And besides, je ne peux pas lire Japonais, vous imbécile. Sheesh.

PSII is the most godforsakenly depressing angstfest of a game ever made. You could make a game about the holocaust, and it would be a close call as to which was more miserably soul-destroying. PSII might even manage to win.

Seriously, the game exists to punish you for liking RPGs.

So very true, That's for that very reason that PSII is the best in its category that we love it.

Can you imagine PSIV without PSII?

"Hey Chaz, I know everybody's happy going to school plus there is no monsters to fight but, how about you come with me swaying the sword."
"Oh, by the way, I know you couldn't level up because there was no monsters, problems and stuff but could you go and kill DF for me? thx you're a sweety."

People didn't notice that? Huh. I caught on pretty quick. It was just a matter of remembering whether the arrows pointing in went up or down and vice versa...XD

oh come on, its not a depressing game. Xenogears is a depressing game. PS2 is just dark, atmospheric and post-apocalyptic, which is cool.
