I'll be posting some videos to YouTube of me doing unusual things in Phantasy Star games. I have already posted Chaz defeating Re-Faze (just the final hit), Nei beating Neifirst by herself at level 40, and I'll be posting beating Medusa sans Mirror Shield probably today. I'll also post some game breaking from PS3, namely beating Dark Force with the first generation by using walk through walls codes and a bit of save state hacking (to turn on the flags for Laya Pendant and Wren's parts). I can also post videos of me beating PD1/PD2 (it is possible by using a dummied item called WAT that does 999 damage). There's a glitchy death animation.

I would like to see a Phantasy Star 4 lets play where the gamer doesn't disrespect the game. I went through 5 youtuber's just a few days ago.

I hope I'm not hijacking the thread, but here's one programming error/glitch I found once and make a very quick video about it: Get Nei Crown quickly.

That game is so full of glitches. Phantasy Star, on the other hand, really doesn't have any (other than minor glitchiness with the sound during some battles).

But, that's what rushing a game will get you, I guess.

I've seen that glitched death animation before. It's pretty interesting it was somewhat sitting in the games code before, but ooy a little amount of people actually saw it. I wonder if the developers even saw that animation.

Zio kinda sorta has a death animation as well. You normally never see it, because he just kind of disappears when you beat him.

This is what happens when you beat Zio 1. It's...really glitchy. Also, the Psycho Wand changes nothing in that battle. It says "Neutralized!", but nothing changes

I'm trying to think of a way for Chaz to be dead during that battle. Ever notice how Demi heals everyone right before the battle starts? There's actually a really good reason for that. Black Wave has to target Chaz so Alys will jump in front of it. I'm really curious to see if it still targets Chaz even if he is dead.

I will change his current HP to 0, first right before the battle starts, then I'll try again once it starts.

There's a similar situation in Final Fantasy IX, where Steiner targets Blank even if Blank is dead in order for the oglops to fall out of Blank's armor, thus allowing the story to continue. Difference there is that it's actually possible to kill Blank during that battle.

I kinda expected something like that.
Code-wise I think what Zio performs is some kind of spell that causes the battle to end (maybe a 100% success rate run). The spell animation just draws the graphics and part of the graphics are from Chaz's battle tiles. After that the "run from battle" or just "end battle" subroutine gets called/executed.

To prove my theory of "lend graphics from Chaz" try to hack the save state and leave Chaz out of the party. If the animation still plays the same, I think I'm right.

Actually, no. He targeted the first person in the party, which happened to be Hahn.
