I'm nearing the end of Gen I, and I just entered Balay Malay however when I tried to get the Laconia Shield on Dezolis the guard wouldn't let me enter the cave. I eventually gave up because I couldn't figured it out but, it's pretty annoying that the cave is closed off if you get the Larema nuts before the shield. Also I'm using the version 2 translation.

I wish I could be of more help, I don't understand how this happened.

Found out the reason why, it's the same problem I had with Tajima, I just had to re-enter the Corona Tower and talk to the priest twice until he talked about the shield. Unlike the Tajima situation I didn't find any info about you needing to talk to the priest multiple times.

Oh, lol. Glad it's not a problem w/ the fan translation at least.

Weird question. Why did people start calling him "Tajima"? He's not called that in Phantasy Star I's official translation (He's called Tajim and Tarzimal there) or in SMS Power's fan translation (He's just Tajim there). The GBA version settled on Tarzimal for his name in PSI.

Was it an official guide somewhere? The game's manual?

I actually didn't realize his name was Tajim, my guess it originally resulted in a mispell and got spread across the internet. Both sections of Phantasy Star on pscave use the spelling Tajima as well.
