I've only played the GC version of Skies on the Wii (yay for backwards compatibility!) and this is my first time playing it. I have no complaints with the graphics; they're gorgeous and very detailed! My only problem is with the battle system, which felt a little stiff and dated at first, but grew on me once I had gotten used to it and how it plays out. :)

And... Ouch, scratches = le suck! D: Sorry to hear it, dude. :(

Just finished Sonic 4 eps 1 (someone let me gameshare it) and i had all emeralds. Good game actually, just fun, 2D retro gameplay. Short, and hard final boss feels out of place, but good. Worth a dl, but maybe to expensive. ^ ^

Just finished Mega Man 9 again. This time with Mega Man for some challenges. I had to use one Energy Tank in the end, otherwise I'd have gotten the challenge of not having used any as well. As it is, I cleared the game under 90 minutes and without continuing. Huzzah. :)

I didn't mention it before, but I'm playing Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City (DS). It's great, though much easier than the first game (haven't played the sequel). I especially enjoy the ocean exploration by ship, a nice change of pace.

Damn me and my short attention span. I'm going to be writing some Anna Zirski fanfic soon, so I decided to drop other games in favor of playing her text adventure game. Shouldn't take too long, though. So far it's interesting. All of the text adventure games do a good job of giving the characters some interesting back stories, as well as a better glimpse at life on Motavia in that era. Anna's game, for instance, addresses the prejudice against native Motavians and shows the poverty of working the dome farms.

Do what I do and become a bargain gamer. There's not much reason to get games as soon as they're coming out, and they quickly drop in price these days.

Yesterday I re-discovered a game I had seen on TV in my childhood: Pocky & Rocky. On TV it was called Chiki Chiki Boys, which is why I hadn't found it before. It's a neat shoot 'em up with action elements with a Japanese folklore aesthetic.

I'm a bargain bin gamer as well, even if I try (often unsuccessfully) to buy what I like the most in its release date.

On what I'm playing, since this week I have no work lined up (a strike! GODDAMMIT!!) and I can afford myself a couple hours each evening, I borrowed Batman: Arkham Asylum from a friend.

I'm very, very surprised. A comic book superhero game is actually great. The story is something I hadn't expected when I heard of it and the gameplay is something they thought out VERY carefully.

It feels like Super Metroid, only with Batman and a collection of his worst sociopaths.

So far I have fought the Scarecrow, which is more like surviving him rather than fighting him, and beaten Bane. I'm eagerly awaiting Poison Ivy and the Joker.

I nearly soiled my pants.

Finished Arkham Asylum yesterday. I am playing Halo Reach on my brothers' CrapBox. I don't like FPS games much, but the Halo series have been interesting for me. Halo 1, 2 and 3 because of the pretty visuals and rather nice music as well as Cortana. Halo 3 ODST I haven't finished, but what little I have played, I like. However, the best game so far in the series is Halo: Reach. The prequel for the entire series.

It is immersive in that the player character is faceless and can be either male or female, depending on player specification. Also, the player is just another mass produced Spartan (human super soldier) in a six member team codenamed Noble Team.

So far, this is the game in the series where I have found the cast to be the most interesting and easy to get attached to and just as well hard to let go.

Having played the main series already, I know the game is to be ended in tragedy, but so far, losing Noble 5 Jorge and Noble 2 Kat sucked... They were great characters. Jorge sacrifices himself in a futile attempt to destroy an enemy ship by detonating a weapon manually because the timer had been fried. Futile, I say, because as soon as he destroyed the one ship he was in, after throwing out my character, a complete fleet of identical ships appeared. Kat just died from a sniper's shot to her head while escaping from a building as she asked about the way Humanity was losing the war against the enemy armada. As she fell, her body was quickly recovered and carried by Noble 6 (my character). An ugly way to go just when she was finally opening up.

That's the idea, of the game, of course. Noble 6 is a new addition to the team, replacing the original Noble 6 who fell in combat earlier. The unit is already formed and nobody really trusts the new recruit as a person, just as a soldier. When characters begin talking more, it's a sign that it's time to say goodbye in an unceremonious way.

It's the first time I've played an FPS that I have felt tugs at my emotional strings.
