There's a fan made translation patch out there for Langrisser III on Saturn. I was wondering if anyone here has successfully used the patch ('cause I'm having trouble).

Thanks. To clarify: I actually found this download through PSCave. Some guy wrote a translation patch for the game. It supposedly works by creating an image of the original game disc, using the image to replace three key bin files, and then buring the new image onto a CD-R and now you have a translated game!.... in theory.<p>I am assuming it works because it's been up on the internet since 2001, but I don't know if I'm imaging the disc wrong, or maybe not buring the disc in the correct mode.... whatever.<p>this is where I got the patch: http://www.segaxtreme.net/Translation/<p>And Benoit, I agree... if this could work, imagine what games we could see translated! I found a programmer-in-training who's in the process of translating Shining Force 3 Scenario 2. He is also aware of teh Langrisser III translation and has agreed to try and help. I'll let you know if we can get it to work.<p>Apparently the problem lies in some bad/unreadable sectors in track 2 of the game disc

You do know that Langrisser III is the prequel to Langrisser/Warsong?<p>Hehe.. I wish I could play it!<p>I wonder if Langrisser 5 has been translated, I've seen Screenshots of it in ENGLISH. O.o

Yeah, 3 is the beginning to the whole saga. But 5, it's a direct sequel to 4. If you haven't played that one, 5 makes no sense...... translated or not. Just remember, people no matter what your opinion on each game is.......<p> Langrisser Millenium for DC is NOT part of the series. (it was a mediocre cash grab made after the original production team left to do the Growlanser series.)

So what was Langrisser Dramatic cd?

The Dramatic CD for PS1 and Saturn was a remake collection of Langrisser 1 & 2. I think they are the PC-FX versions (for those who remember that failed japanese system) as the cinemas are much newer and better looking than the old pc engine versions (I say that 'cause the in-game graphics were a little too lame to be a remake).<br> For Saturn, they had a "Langrisser Complete Box" which was all 5 games and a mini art book (and WAY too expensive for me to get!).<p> Over all, Langrisser was like the YS series. It had several versions of the same games out for dozens of systems. (Der Langrisser is just another name for 2, for example) The entire series is 1-5 and then Sega tried to do a Dragon Force-esque sequel for DC(Millenium). If you see something else, odds are it's some version of one of the original 5.<p> Wow, I feel like such a geek for knowing all this......... :look:

Well, I *kinda* got the translation to work. I had to start up my Saturn w/ the legit copy of L3 first and then swap it with the burned disc at the Sega logo (this meant being able to open the disc tray w/o resetting the system).<p>I dunno if it's 'cause my Saturn isn't modded to play bruned games, but the only things translated were the menus in the battles and the pre-battle areas. None of the prologue or any of the dialogue was displayed legibly (it wasn't even in Japanese anymore).<p>That guy who was helping me said it might play better on an Emultor and recommended Cassini (I think)... I'll give it a try.<p>Also, ill-intent... so was Millennium done by a different team or something? I am investing in a PC-FX.. I can find one for $89.00.. Oh the games I could play! ^^<p>I want to play Langrisser 1/2 with the FMV's on it and listen to the remade soundtrack!<p>The only problem is, Langrisser 2 was first, then Der Langrisser. Der Langrisser was changed to Langrisser 2 on those collections. So langrisser 2 isn't playable on anything except genesis.<p>That info comes from the "Clouds of El Sallia" page which has alot of Langrisser info. Sadly, Alamone's page vanished, and with it much knowledge. <p>Don't get me wrong, I like Der Langrisser, but Langrisser 2 had more plot to it! More revelation about Riana and Larna. Der Langrisser isn't entirely playable in english because of the diverging plot, that and it leaves out some revelations. <p>What do you think Andrew? Is the collection worth it? I heard they fixed the annoying AI in the Warsong remake(langrisser 1)! If that is true, it's worth playing.<p>P.S. Langrisser Millenium was crap, I'll agree. While the designs were nice, it was just a cash in.

The full Saturn collection was just the dramatic CD and the other exact saturn versions of each game. (the box and art book were the only real catch) So, if you already have some of them, don't bother. A lot of them eventually came out for Ps1 as well. While the loading time on those are HORRIBLE compared to saturn, the cinema sequences are a lot cleaner. As for the Dramatic disk. I liked it as the Warsong release of Lang 1 was edited and shortened (whole villains and stages were cut out). It was nice to play 1 in it's entirety. As for 2, it has the later game tricks about stage hoping etc, so it was fairly easy to play all the story branches. (the bitter-sweet, not-quite happiest ending made the game worth it in my opinion) And yes, the AI was a little better as they had to come up with one that would work in both 1 & 2.<br> As for getting a PC-FX: NICE!!! I've been looking for a cheap one for a while, but my problem is I haven't been able to find a copy of Ys 5 anywhere. If I could find that, I'd shell out the dough for the FX ...... well, almost immediately. (assuming I can afford to pay rent and eat food)

I found it for 89.00 on Ebay.. and another site had it for 85.00 a week ago.<p>It's a good investment, I know exactly the games I could play.<p>I could handle langrisser in japanese, seeings how I've played 1, 2 and der to death in english. <p>My sadness comes from the fact that langrisser 2 wasn't remade, but Der langrisser was and renamed Langrisser 2. ;.;<p>I want my damn Larna+leon backstory!
