Here are some gameplay clips I lifted off of GameFAQs:
http://www3.stream.co.jp/cgi-bin/common/selector/sega-tv/smartembed.cgi?cont=smart/sforce/sforceneo_game1&band=b&player=wmt&g=mfile.asx
http://www3.stream.co.jp/cgi-bin/common/selector/sega-tv/smartembed.cgi?cont=smart/sforce/sforceneo_game2&band=b&player=wmt&g=mfile.asx
Looks a lot like Diablo II meets Record of Lodoss War (for Dreamcast) if you ask me. Pretty sweet combo :)

[Edit by zoothe on [TIME]1108408817[/TIME]]

From what I've been reading on other forums, it's supposed to be set sometime before the first Shining Force game. Also, they added NEO to set it apart from the standard Shining Force style.Sounds like a cop-out to me but I don't really care. The game looks cool, even if it isn't a "real" Shining Force game.

From RPGamer.com:

With Shining Tears soon to grace North American shelves, it has been unveiled in the March issue of Play magazine that Sega and Neverland's Action RPG, Shining Force Neo, will be localized and released in August of this year. Currently, there has been no confirmation from Sega about this announcement.
The story follows Max and friends as they try to destroy the legion, a group of deadly monsters from another world. Japanese gamers and importers will have the chance to play this title on March 24 when the title releases in Japan for the price of 6,800 yen.

Cool if true.
With the revelation that Neverland had a hand in this game, it's no surprise that the clips I saw of it being played reminded me a lot of Record of Lodoss War for DC. Now I know NEO isn't the SRPG that a lot of people wanted, but if you liked RoLW and Diablo, then you should be psyched about this game!! It looks fun :)

[Edit by zoothe on [TIME]1110927912[/TIME]]

Never-Land, eh? Cool. They were behind the Lufia series, Record of Lodoss War for Dreamcast (as zoothe said), CIMA: The enemy, and some other cool games.

The game got a 33 score in the current issue of Famitsu. So the game was received well by the biggest games mag in japan. All that remains to be seen is if it does well in retail which a lot of ShF fans don't want.....

O_o; You're not even going to give it a try before desiding that?
That's kind of stupid.

Because it is simply not "turn-based"?
Shining Force 3, in my opinion, is the pinnacle of the strategy turn-based Shining games; you can't add any more ideas to a genre that has already reached its limit.
I agree with you on Shining Soul, though. Trying to continue Camelot's storyline by just adding in all the Shining villians on a non-sensical plot, in order to get the fans buying the games again is a bad idea on Sega's part.

I wouldn't mind an action RPG but Force Implys 2 things, 1 is a lot of characters, the second is some kind of tatical battle set up, this game has neither (10 characters is rather common in todays RPG's nothing special here) and no tatical battles what so ever, just an action RPG, thats crap and most on SFC agree about that.

Shining Force 3, in my opinion, is the pinnacle of the strategy turn-based Shining games; you can't add any more ideas to a genre that has already reached its limit.
SF3 isn't the limit of a tatical RPG, they'res so much more that could be done its not even funny.
