These phones are getting more and more like small computers and I'm wondering, are they powerful enough that you could have a Genesis emulator on them?

I'll post you a video me playing Phantasy Star II via my N900 using TV-out cable soon.

So what comes to your question... I think I already answered to it. ;)
Most mobile/multimedia phones actually have GPU besides of CPU.
Newest Phones (like HTC Desire) have Snapdragon ARM CPU that runs in 1GHz frequency.

I think that's so cool! How's the quality?

On my iPod Touch I have the original Sonic the hedgehog. No confusing emulations or hacks, just a £3 app. They should make the PS series on apps, ive seen Final Fantasy I and II on the store.

On my N900 I will have ~2000 Mega Drive games + emulator for free. :P

Anyway: You should install one emulator then you can have all the classic PS games on your iPod. ;) That can't be confusing using emulator.

To be fair, i have nearly no idea what an emulator is, how you get it and how you use it. :/

There's no science behind their use.

Imagine you have a program to open images. You run it, but then you need to locate an image to display. You locate said image and then open it.

Now, think Megadrive, Super Nintendo or Master System and Nintendo.

Of course, you can configure where you want to map the keys on your keyboard.
