I GOT MY NEW HARRY POTTER BOOK!! With that said, I am very excited that I got it, right at midnight. I was wondering if anyone else here got it, or is planning to buy the book. As of right now, I have read the first 4 chapters and the book is pretty good.

I might get the book, Im not in the mood yet, because I haven't read the rest yet

I still have to finish Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix.

I'll be getting it and reading it, even though I tell people I don't really like Harry Potter heh.

I was talking quality.. <p>I don't see Jordan as being that great. Nor do I barker..<p>Now Brooks is good, So is Tolkien. Lewis is so so..<p>I was referencing to the great Scifi/Fantasy authors from the 70's and 80's, ones you don't hear of anymore, because all of the fans are older.

You seem to forget Eddings aswell...and Jordan is one of the best, and so is Kerr. When it comes to sci-fi it's Gibson all around.

Most of his books with mindless filler, that is his strongpoint.<p>P.S. The first Well World book is "Midnight at the Well of Souls". It's awesome, it was a hit for that very reason. The first Four Lords of the Diamond book is "Lillith : A snake in the grass" <p>Those were back when Scifi was original, and the authors used their own ideas. Where's all the George R. R. Martin fans?!?<br>If you've never heard of him, and you enjoy these kinds of literature, check out <br>A Game of Thrones from your local library. DO IT! You'll love it.<br>The 4th book is coming out later this year (Nevember ?) and he's also said he plans<br>on stopping the series at his 5th or 6th book, so it doesn't drag on for an <br>unbelievable amount of time and get dull *Cough*Brooks*cough*.

Abarat by Clive Barker is really good. The first two books in the series have been released so far.

I'll probably read it at one point. I'm not a big fan, but the Harry Potter series serves as a guilty pleasure at times. I'll read it when the time comes, but I'm not particularly stoked about nor am I in a rush to get. Rowling strikes as a bit of an amature as far as writing goes. <p>As long as we're on the topic of good fantasy writers I would have to say that among my choices are Steven Erikson, Guy Gavriel Kay, Terry Goodkind, Tolkien (of course) and C.S Lewis (for a younger audience, though). Ursela K. LeGuin's Wizard of Earthsea trilogy is a masterpiece, though I can't think of any other noteable fantasy titles by her. As far as SciFi goes, William C. Dietz is rather good, one of the best to be sure.<p>Each author has their weakpoints, though. Steven Erikson, while being an incredible storyteller and excellent at designing a nuanced story, can be a tad technical and dry at some points. Guy Gavriel Kay is an author of great skill, reminding me a lot of Tolkien actually, but he shares Tolkien's weaknesses in that he can drag a bit. Terry Goodkind can really put emotion in to his work, such as in his Faith of the Fallen book, but his characters can get really cliched and some of his books feel really rushed at the end.<p><blockquote>Jordan is a FILLER author. You can defenitely tell what the demographic for the book is.
