Oh jeez... Umm... Okay. Might be a bit of a long post. :p <p>Movies: Donnie Darko, The Butterfly Effect, most things pixar (many more to list, but I either can't remember them or won't bother going into detail)<p>Bands: Strapping Young Lad (my favorite band at the moment), The Devin Townsend Band (aka Ocean Machine, etc), Fear Factory, Kreator, Luca Turilli, King Diamond, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Persuader, Korpiklaani, Shotgun Messiah (actually, only their final album... the rest is a bit too hair-metally for my tastes), Annihilator, Meshuggah, Dillinger Escape Plan (though I've only heard a little bit), Three Inches of Blood, Ministry, Children of Bodom, and almost ANY sort of medievil folk music. Jazz and blues are good too. (Wow. That was a long list.)<p>Instruments: I play Mandolin, learning guitar, and am a fairly acomplished digital musician (digital music does NOT always mean techno, people ) and dabble in mixing/producing. (no, not professionally. I just know a fair bit about it and produce my own music)<p>Foods: Mostly anything italian, um, whatever snacks I can put together from stuff around the house... Oh, and gotta have Rice Crackers, too. (Starlight: Pomegranates are awesome, indeed)<p>Video Games: Phantasy Star IV (I like the others, but not overly much), Half Life 2 (I know, I know), all three Thief games ('...musta been rats...'), early Sonic games (shh, you. I find them fun), most Zelda games, especially Zelda 3 (don't call me a zelda fanboy, though :p), Mario RPG... And yes, Final Fantasy 6.<p>Webcomics: Better Days (currently my favorite, it's very well done... though I suppose some bits could offend people), Ctrl+Alt+Del, VG Cats, RPG World (when it updates), Adventurers!, Antihero For Hire, Angst Technology, 8-Bit Theatre, Stubble, Punks And Nerds, The Gods of Arr-Kelan, Akaelae, Theatre Hopper, Nothing Nice To Say, A Modest Destiny.<p>Colors: Bright yellow, orange, anything obnoxiously bright contrasting with black, (:p) blue<p>Animals: Foxes. I happen to like foxes for a variety of reasons. (please don't think it's because of any early 90s video game... :p I happen to like the 'personality' they tend to have in certain myths-- no, not the stereotype 'sneaky villain'-- and the message of the fox totem in native american cultures)<p>Pets: Yup, I have a dog.<p>Phobias: Bugs (I CANNOT STAND them), heights, and water.<p>Other interests: Philosophy (I think about it too much), writing (my grandpa was an english teacher and is very knowledgeable in literature, and some of that seems to have rubbed off on me), pixel art (as in, a common style/method of art used in old-- and many new-- 2d games), 'traditional' art (sketching, etc), anthropomorphic art (figure it out and say what you will), songwriting (both musically and lyrically), mandolin (as I think I may have mentioned above), and I've been meaning to learn the drums and also sing for quite awhile, but so far I haven't truly gotten around to either. I'm also interested in (and believe in) the totem animal concept (for lack of a better word).<p>Whew.<br>I feel like I've just finished writing an MSN profile, but a hundred times more detailed. I also LOVE the 80's, and 80's music!<p>Well, I should probably add some more things to my list:<p>Religion: I'm Roman Catholic (devout, I must say). <br>I've had religious experiences, which has only re-affirmed my faith.<p>Favorite Ice cream: I generally love sorbet, but also I love bubblegum ice cream, and hot fudge sundaes!<p>Subjects: I'm in college, so I love practically ANY and EVERY subject, especially art, history, literature, sociology, etc. I am working towards a Masters degree in history, studying in particular the Roman Empire. <br>I am a science nerd, so I have a love for biology, ecology, and astronomy.<p>Phobias: Bugs (namely spiders and earwigs), I hate heights, I hate flying in planes, and I am afraid of the basement, I also don't like germs; so I hate touching public doornobs, elevator buttons, cash money, etc.<p>Favorite Video games: PS I AND PS IV, any Mario bros. games, fighting games like tekken<p><p>[size=small][Edit by Starlight on [TIME]1114118456[/TIME]][/size]

OT: Well, I generally avoid religious debates, but I happen to believe that it is far less logical to think that the Big Bang happened from NOTHING, rather than it was created by an intelligent designer. <p>Not to mention that I know in my heart what is the truth. There are so many "theories" to explain the inexplainable, but all the "proof" you need is in your heart. I have had religious experiences that are amazing, to say the least. Jesus is truly the way. <p>Gipper, I always thought you were cool, but if you really are into Star Wars, then you are A STUD!!! The Big Bang occured from a very large mass of anti-matter colliding with an even larger mass of matter. When Matter hits Anti-Matter, you get something on the order of....well, really big.<p>As for the whole other religious thing...what is religion but another theory? Isn't religion the theory of, "There is a really powerful dude somewhere in space that created everything."? Combine that with the fact the science at least offers some proof, religion just tells people to trust it. I can't accept anything that isn't at least somewhat proven. <p>And yes, Yoda DOES rule. He is the original little green man.

I KNOW what the Big Bang is, I believe in it myself. But WHERE did that "matter" come from?<p>There are no certainties in science. Justice Blackmun noted that “there are no certainties in science” and quoted the AAAS/NAS amici brief : “Science is not an encyclopedic body of knowledge about the universe. Instead, it represents a process for proposing and refining theo-retical explanations about the world that are subject to further testing and refinement.”<p>Religion is indeed, a theory, a mythology. Same thing as asking 'where did god come from'. (reminds me of this thing I saw on the back of a car a few times; the 'darwin fish' being eaten by another fish with 'truth' inside it. the darwin fish was a bit of a joke; the truth fish is taking it too far in my opinion, especially when it's a bit like forcing your beliefs on someone in itself... :p the darwin fish wasn't forcing any opinion, but the truth fish is like saying "no, THIS is RIGHT and that's final" )<br>...Aw crap. You misunderstand me. You ask, where did God come from? God has always existed and always has been. That is hard to understand because we are finite beings. There is no time to God. He is infinite.<p>Think what you want and I respect that, but you will NEVER be able to put down my beliefs. It just doesn't affect me. Trust me, I'm a science nerd, and I've heard it all. <p>I know what I experienced, and no argument can change that. I say I know what the truth is because I've <i>experienced</i> it, which says a hell of a lot more than what some scientist says about matter and anti matter, and where it "supposedly" came from. My logic and reasoning tells me that nothing forms from nothing, INCLUDING "matter". My heart tells me that what I experienced is REAL.<p>Now, lets drop the subject and agree to disagree before this gets out of hand.
