Advance Wars

Is anybody here fans of Intelligent Systems' series of stragetic games?<p>I've only played Advance Wars 2 for the GBA and I love it, especially if you play against friends.<p>The single-player mode of this game, Campaign, is ficken hard to beat! I'm stuck on the beginning missions of the Green Earth continent.<br>

Ho yes! I've beat the single player Campaign on Normal... the last few missions are nearly impossible. But that wasn't enough... oh no. There's a <i>hard</i> mode, in which the typical Orange Star mission is of 5-star difficulty.<br>I still haven't beat the hard campaign.

Who's your favourite COs, LS? Mine's Andy for his well-balanced proficency with all types of units and his repairing powers, Max for his brute force with direct-firing units, and Kanbei because his units inherit increased offensive and defensive capabilities under his command.<p>Do you also play the game against friends as well, LS? And do you stuff 'em regularly? :p

Kanbie or Sonja, though Sonja's really only useful in fog of war. However, Flak strikes me as a very interesting (if inconsistent) CO that requires a lot of strategy. Suffice to say, I use him. Really, I'm pretty good with any CO, though Kanbei is a definite favorite.<br>Argh... been so long since I played the game, and nobody else I know had the game, so I couldn't play them, sadly.

Its a good series, can't wait for the GC AW. As well as the DS AW (I'll get a DS just for that game I know it >.>) My fav. CO is Eagle, because he really does own the sky. The other CO's I like are Andy(I just like his personality) and Collin (His Co Power is pure freaking evil I tell you!)

The second one is far better.<br>As for the GC AW, I'm seriously disappointed in all that I've seen from it. It doesn't look even remotely like the ones for GBA. The art style isn't even close to the same, and it's an RTS. Why did the even call it Advanced Wars? It might as well be an entirely different game.<br>Now the DS AW... I'm looking forward to that. I think it may use the touch screen in a real innovative way. And they didn't totally remake the series... looks the same as the other AW games.<br>

Ah yes. My favourite CO is probably Jessica...good for those who fight on the ground, which makes up the majority of your units. Honourable mentions go to Lash and Sami, who makes missions quick to win, though low in rank.<p>Try Hard Campaign. If you thought normal was hard, try the base missions for Hard...I'm working for an S-Rank campaign. Killer.<p>The DS AW looks nice...we get the second screen for lauching tactical missle strikes. That was all that was elaborated. I look forward to the release, or some more screen shots.

That doesn't make any sense... there's an entire new campaign as well as new maps and new COs. Not enough new content? I doubt it.

Jeeze, that'd rock! <br>I was thinking about bumping this thread. Ever since PeaGuy started talking about AW2, I've been playing it like a fiend. Nearly beat all the War Room maps... including the infamous Missile Plains. Hoho! I've been playing to a level of insanity since this thread was created, and I've found that Grit is another favourite.<p>I would definitely love an online Advance Wars, but I have a feeling that the DS version will incorporate something to that effect. Still, it would be nice playing online.
