PSU Aspect to debate

Now this is a excerpt from the BIO of one of the characters..
Karen Era
Sex: Female
Race: Newman
Age: 17
Occupation: Gaurdian
17 years old. Has 3 years of battle experience, and becomes Ethan's instructor. Experienced her mother being killed by a primeval (protozoan) lifeform, and even though is a Newman, has to live with the handicap of being unable to use techniques. Is a bit harder on herself than she needs to be, and stubbornly acts tough.
IF this is PSO 2.. How can a Newman not use techniques? It's a standard of the Pioneer/Coralian people. Newmans use techniques.
Now if it's not PSO 2, How do you all feel about a Newman not using techniques?

Since I have no clue why it's standard in PSO I'll just throw out a random guess of her just not bothering learning how to use them.
Anyway, I dont really care that they chose not to give that character techniques since there have been techniqueless characters in the earlier PS games, and like them she'll probably have equipment and/or stats to make up for the lack of techniques. Though it is somewhat odd that they chose to have the newman be techniqueless.

Maybe she can use Techs but she doesn't understand how to use them or something blocks her from useing them.
Of course she could just use skills I don't think it would effect gameplay that much.

Yes, seeing as how she would not be the character I would choose to use anyway...

Hm, I can see why a Numan wouldn't be able to use techs... being that they're designed, it could be a flaw in the genetic engineering.

It's okay that she can't use techniques!
this means she could turn out to be a fighter-class character. Which means her physical attacks may be heightened due to her lack of technique ability. This allows her to focus on improving her physical attack skills.

Yes but it strays from the PSness in the fact that Newmans/Numans use techniques as well as fight.
Numans/Newmans heal o.o
Did we forget that Nei and then Rika were healers as well? SO was the Nm-2011 in the Drama Cd.

[Edit by Lord Khyron on [TIME]1111732166[/TIME]]

Please be nice to Karen!!!!
it's kinda like humans. normally they can walk by themselves. but ther eare handicapped people who can't walk at all! Will you call then not humans just cause they can't walk?!!?!?!? ?! !? ?! ?!? !?
Karen is just unable to use techniques. Regardless what she is, she can't use them. And I find that unique from the usual Numans in the previous stories. This would expain her personality a little. And makes her stand out more. ^_^

I am just as surprised as all of you, but I'm sure genetic mutations are possible if numans have been procreating like humans. As are genetic "defects" like inability to use techniques.

You fool, Benoit! I'm making ya'll see the other side of things. Not something as silly as saying
"Oh no, she's a Numan and she can't use techniques?! That is not what the other Phantasy Star Numans are like."

Who needs uniqueness when we can have a scantily clad cat girl with claws and healing techniques? Breaking the mold is overrated.

Once you start accepting one difference, the foot is in the door and you will accept every difference you see
Soon we will not have a PS game, but a FF game named PS.
