yeah combos felt pretty monotonous back then.
chop chop chop.
blam blam blam.
yeah some weapons had like extra hits (the machine guns), but overall, it's great they increased it to up to 6 strike combo attacks. And I even heard you can add techniques (attack skills or spells?) to the sequence to create different combinations!

It might be more useful I just hope they make the timing system better, its so easy that its boring and its the same thing time after time, make it something like ToS where you have to move the control stick in some way to preform one type of attack then another way for a diffrent attack then as you combine it, it creates its own combo style or something...

heck no I love the timing is easy.
there are some people who can't even do PSO's combos properly. any harder and we would have a larger wave of noobs.

Maybe not like Tos but maybe like so3. Now theres a real time system! But Saners right there are still many who play PSO that cant combo properly and get beatings as the combo system is

I don't mind timing, but if we could make our combos (swing up, swing down) different from others, it would be defining as a character.
Did anyone play Lord of the Rings: Return of the King? That was the most damn amazing battle system ever. Custom combos, pure real-time, parrying, knocking enemies down and using finisher attacks. It was perfect in my eyes. Too bad the game took an hour to beat %)
[Edit by Neo48 on [TIME]1112198677[/TIME]]

I like that they doubled it, plus I am really interested in how using techniques can extend (and maybe alter?) combo's. Like maybe you do: normal - normal - barta - hard - barta - special and if you time it right so that your swing (or shot, or whatever) hits as the barta's hit you do extra damage and if you do you get to keep the chain going? Almost like in Vagrant Story with the chain combo risk system, which was a little hard at first but then second nature.
Anyway, cool to hear they're vamping up the combat a bit.

I'm not sure if this is going to be possible, but would it not be great to be able to target multiple enemies, especially with a Saber / Pistol combo.

I hated teh Two towers and Return of the King games. Button mashing boredom induced crappy gameplay.

Button mashing is boredom. The people in PSO who got tired of the 3 hit combos will get tired of the 6 hit ones and complain.
Real time makes it unfair to the monsters, for you hit faster than they ever could hope to. Talk about abuse of priviledge...

[Edit by Lord Khyron on [TIME]1114099780[/TIME]]

I think there should be learnable non-magic techniques, i.e. fighting moves, like in Devil May Cry. Though, obviously, not so over the top! I don't have a problem with repetitive fighting per se, but I do have a problem with the feeling that I could employ a monkey to press the buttons for me and it not make any difference to my fighting skills.
Then again, I'm a big fan of 2D fighters like Capcom vs SNK 2, so I'm probably biased by that.

I am also a huge fighter fan and I would like to see combat in a real-time action-rpg be at least as complex as a fighter. Sure, computer opponents are often easy and fight by patterns, but it would sure beat "slash, slash, slash. resta. slash, slash, slash."
