My "new" Genesis 2!

Postby Zubon » Thu Apr 14, 2005 11:08 pm

Yay! I won the ebay auction and am now (or will be soon) the proud owner of a Genesis 2 and PSIV. Now I can play this game as it was meant to be played. I get a copy of NFL 95 with it too, lucky me. Now only am I English and therefore have no idea or fondness of American Football, I also don't like sport anyway...
So, it made me think, what other US Genesis games should I buy? I had a PAL one (a Megadrive) when I was little, but I'm hoping that there were some games I missed out on that only came out in the US. Like with the SNES (Chrono Trigger etc)...

No, I have no idea how it differs from the regular one. But to me this is kind of like if one of the American people on this forum got a Japanese PS1 and could instantly read Japanese...think of all the goodies! I don't think non-Europeans realise how much we get screwed by publishers... ;_;

Eh, we didn't get screwed at all in the Mega Drive age. We even got some games that the US didn't. Like Mega Man: The Wily Wars (awesome game! rented it).
You're going to run into problems with your console since you live in the UK. :(

I'll just get an adapter for the plug, if that's what you mean. I live with a German girl who has a ton of them lying around. ^^

Not only that, Zubon. You'll need the appropriate equipment to hook up your console to your TV and get color. I think it'll take at least an RGB cable.
Then you will also need an adaptor to play PAL games...

trust me when i say this. GET THE CORRECT STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER. If you dont there will be a loud pop and blue smoke will come pouring out the tranformer. I say this after a friend of mine blew up his U.S. Xbox within moments of plugging in

Thanks you all for your help. Well, I don't intend to play PAL games on the Genesis, as my household already contains two Mega Drives.
Though I didn't know about the RGB cable thing. Do they even make them for the Genesis? I have one on my PS2. Is the reason I'll need a special lead because British TVs run at 50hz whereas US ones run at 60hz? 'Cos I've played American games on my chipped PAL PS2 and they worked fine on the TV, not to mention that most modern British TVs can do 60hz anyway. If it's for a different reason then just ignore that. :)

It doesn't have to do with the Hz.
Your Genesis was made to work with a NTSC TV, not a PAL one. That's why.

didn't they make a Genesis 3 too?
yeah and be careful you might blow something up, or have wacky picture...and stuff.....I hope it works good though.....
You'd have good luck on ebay finding the right cords to make it work in the event you have problems...thats ebay :)
