PSP or DS?

Just curious about your preference.
PSP:
Pros: Guaranteed backup from developers.
Cons: New in the portable arena.
DS:
Pros: Backwards compatible, still undefeated portables champion.
Cons: Gimmicky, gimmicky rarely stays (virtual boy, super scope, whatever the name of Sega's infrared mat, etc).

I think the DS is the best.
DS
Pros:
Developer backup
Established market
Innovative
Backwards compatible
Good battery life
Cheaper
Cons:
Um... No GB/GBC compatiblity?
PSP
Pros:
Developer backup
Good graphics
Slick design
Cons:
Poor battery life
Badly designed in the hardware area, like we can expect from Sony
Doesn't bring anything new
Expensive
UMD shuriken feature
Uses CDs for storage, making for... *shudders* loading times!
Additionally, if your DS is broken, Nintendo replaces it for free overnight, and even gives you a game of your choice for the trouble. Sony doesn't take any PSPs back.

Even though I have more Sony equipment than Nintendo, the DS is much better, for the same reasons as Benoit said. Oh, and also for the fact that it's more durable - it lasts longer than the PSP.

The only cons I see with the PSP is the piss poor battery life and the system isn't built well and can break easily. Other good things about it would be the mp3 playback, dvd movieplayback(after your transfer to umd) and wifi play.

As far as the DVD movie playback goes... It sucks, because it means buying your DVD movie again on a UMD. Talk about cash-ins...

Indeed. I find the whole UMD format a blatant insult. The fact that Sony's new system will only be able to play the Sony exclusive new format is as shameless as cash-ins come.

I'm just gonna go with PSP because it's a portible PlayStation. I always wanted to take my Playstation with me.

Go ahead... get burned on bad hardware. At least the DS will last...

I think the DS would sell better due to cost. If you remember "back in the day" when there was the sega Game gear and the Nintendo game boy (original), the game boy did better because of price, not specs. the DS has pretty much the same advantages over PSP, and an earlier release date.

[Edit by WolfHunt on [TIME]1106784072[/TIME]]

Even if you hate the DS games, you still get GBA compatability.
That makes it worth it..
Oh! Does anyone remember the reported "PSO DS" title in works?
Right when the DS was shown at E3 or whatever it is, There was a reported title of PSO DS in the making..
Anyone remember it?

Yes, it was reported. I don't think anything ever came of it though, since afterward I never heard any other news on the matter. But anyway I didn't get my hopes up that I'd be able to purchase one since the source was as reliable as ebgames.

A Sega rep. said a week ago that there are no plans for a DS PSO.
I got more info on the UMD DVD movie deal today. The UMD movies are better compressed, but of less quality. The data has been trimmed down, and the PSP won't give you a good screen with its resolution.
Most DVDs have a resolution of 800x600. On the PSP it will be a resolution of 747 on 400-something.

Oh great..
so the PSP is turning into what we call in the us..
VIDEO NOW or JUICE BOX player?
What kind of crap is that x.x
Even more reason to go for DS.
If I wanted to watch crappy movies on a crappy format, I'd steal some middle schooler's Video now.. OR I'd get a GBA and watch "POKEMON" video on it..
Also, since the DS can play GBA games, that means GBA VIDEO too :)

true, and now that I think that sega's more likely to make games for nintendo, I see a sonic adventure type game not too far. it was At E3, but I think it was just a demo to show off some capapilities.
