Honestly, this series still has LOADS of room for innovation in terms of the gameplay we currently see. They could make use of AI for enemies, but also the main mecha you play with, better than how ADA proposed switching to a certain weapon in 2.

Online gaming would be a huge blast if they implemented something like what they did with Peace Walker.

While I love the Metal Gear series, I seriously think Zone of the Enders has at this point in time a MUCH better chance to become a ground breaking hit among people who played the first ones and those that didn't than Rising...

For Rising, they are going with a character that was well received in Japan, but in the rest of the world had a mixed reception at best in its first appearance, then in its second got regarded as cool. Yet, while most people agree that ZOE1 was subpar, ZOE2 was a major improvement and downright awesome. The series has much more potential than Kojima Productions and of course Konami seem to give it credit for. BAD move... Very, very bad.

Had a total blast online today.

A friend of mine finally got a PS3 and MGS4 used at a local rental store. He installed the game yesterday and asked me to teach him about the online component. I gladly accepted and we made a room.

I taught him how to aim, stalk an oponent, hide, lay traps how to snipe from a long distance and how to defend himself in close quarters.

Then, we made a room for people to join and waited. Once the room had more people, we teamed up and played in our hide and shoot method, which nobody else uses. It was lots of fun.

My brother gave me BlazBlue Continuum Shift as a birthday gift (late as hell, but hey). This game is absolutely stunning. If you can, get it NOW. At least where I am, it costs less than normal (dunno about Europe). The online mode is LOTS of fun. Tried it with a friend and it is responsive, fun and above all, enjoyable. PeaGuy! Semix! I dusted off Heroes of Might and Magic 2. I took too long to build up an army, and now there's no way I'm going to defeat the enemy in this single game. I'm so out of practice.

HOMM2 isn't as good as HOMM3, but in my opinion it's second only to HOMM3. I like it for its bright colors and operatic music. It gets overlooked these days because it definitely looks like an older console-ish game, but that's just more appealing to me. (Pretty sprites, yay!) Actually, the music is better overall in HOMM2 than HOMM3. The production might be better on HOMM3, but not the actual tunes.

Anyway, the gameplay is still excellent. The campaign is great, but so are all the standard games as well. I spent one summer vacation when I was about 17 years old creating new games on HOMM2. That's fun, too, though I didn't have anyone to play them with! I never hotseated on HOMM2. Boo.

I took a break from Shiren the Wanderer, and played some Sonic Rush Adventure. Yesterday I started playing Final Fantasy V Advance.

I've played the original through emulation using a fan translation many years back, and I loved it. This enhanced port seems graphically the same, but the sound took a hit. I'm not sure about the sound effects, because years back those weren't always accurate under emulation.

Years back, I would grind for ability points to learn abilities. Then before I'd go through the next dungeon(s) I'd go back to the Freelancer class with the best equipment and the abilities I had learned. Sometimes I'd go through a dungeon with everyone as a certain class, but I went through most of the game as Freelancers that had a combination of White, Black and Time magic abilities.

I'm playing through it differently this time. After learning some blue magic, I gave everyone what I thought was the most suitable job given their statistics.
  • Butz became a Knight because he's strong and otherwise well-rounded.
  • Lenna became a White Mage because of her high Magic statistic. She could be a Black Mage too, but I figured a White Mage would be more useful thanks to curative magic.
  • Galuf became a Monk because of his high Stamina statistic and low Magic statistic.
  • Faris has a high agility statistic, but she also has has a good Magic statistic. I thought she'd be best as a Thief, but a Black Mage was also desirable for access to black magic. So she became a Black Mage long enough to learn the Black Magic level 1 ability and then became a Thief.

This has worked well so far. I've just exited the Ship Graveyard.

I must have missed DQ 10...hmmm :P

Unfortunately I can't seem to get into DQ 9. I am STILL playing Monster Hunter 3 a lot. Also put a few hours into Perfect Dark and Space Station Silicon Valley.

I'm still playing through Final Fantasy V Advance, but slowly. I'm not sure why, but I feel less of a need to play now.

As the Phantasy Star Adventure section needs expanding, I played some Phantasy Star Adventure earlier, and finished it. Nice little game, but I was close to wanting to check a walkthrough at one point!

Played Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles start to finish in a weekend with a friend. It is a great co-op experience and one of the best looking Wii games out there. I highly recommend it.
