The chars were truly dead in that game, and the Rever tech brought them back to life, or else they had to be cloned, which at least makes more sense than going to an inn.<br></blockquote><p>Erm ... in PS1, you had the same concept, except you went to a church instead to have a priest resurrect you (same in III, but you didn't die there, so ...).<p>I too wonder about PS IV - it may have something to do with the similar trend in other RPGs of the time towards town healing (the inns heal all idea) ... in fact, why does staying at an inn heal you at all (other than a few token HP)? Thus, only 1 and II have logical systems ...
