Not androids. Cyborgs.

IMO:
Most likely those flaws exist because of the games age. Back then most rpgs were like that, so it wasn't a big deal. I mean, look at PS1: how do burgers and colas "heal" you? It's a video game, not reality.... However, nowadays, you do see a lot more realism in these types of games and nonsensical stuff like a dead player reviving themselves doesn't happen anymore.

[Edit by zoothe on [TIME]1116113113[/TIME]]

Benoit observed it well. Androids are robots with shape and functions similar to what ypu see in a human, but exclusively mechanic. Cyborgs are made partly of organic tissue and partly mechanical parts. And these organical parts can be poisoned, causing damage to the whole system.

Also, IIRC, you didn't die in PS III - you merely 'lost the will to fight.' Rever thus seems like a pep-up technique, that one who was merely bummed out could use on themselves ... (jeez that makes more sense in my head than in words)

why can dead people cast Rever on themselves?

Dead is a strong word. On the verge of death is more likely in the situation of PSIII. So, it's not entirely hard to believe that someone on the verge of death couldn't heal themselves.

how come you've lost the will to fight but not to cast extremely high-level healing techniques?
not that rever is that high level in ps3... why not? in ps2, rever drains your technique points very fast. in ps4 it doesn't but then it's only a weaker version of regen. in ps4 you can go to an inn to get revived. which is even more bizarre... how exactly does a good night's rest cause you to recover from being critically wounded? i mean, a flatline appears on the screen so it must be pretty bad to be at hp 0 in ps4.

The only game that even had a semi-logical reviving system was PSII. The chars were truly dead in that game, and the Rever tech brought them back to life, or else they had to be cloned, which at least makes more sense than going to an inn.

Thus, only 1 and II have logical systems ...
