Beating Ruins at a low level.

Postby Kirst » Wed Jul 13, 2005 5:49 pm

I currently am having lots of trouble beating VHard ruins at level 54 with a RAmarl. I don't when playing, but it's the fact that it is taking frickin' forever...
I fall over on almomst every hit. It's a total pain in the ass to have to wait there for 2-3 seconds EVERY time I get it.
My character uses:
[1] Yasminkov 3000R + 60
[1] Protect Frame with four slots
[1] Elf/Arm++
[1] Elf/Legs++
[2] Metal/Body
[1] Secret Gear
[1] Savitri (5/45/150/0)
The Elf/Arm++ is unneeded to equip the Yasminkov, so I may replace with a better unit. I don't know WHICH unit yet, so... yeah.
I can borrow units from my level HUmar (Hero/Ability x2, God/Luck) and other things, but I would prefer just to figure it out without using him. =\
Thanks.

What level support techniques do you have?

Eh... I think my shifta is 11, Deband is 10, Jellen and Zalure are like... 10 each...
Obviously I use those... and I do try to upgrade them ASAP. =\
EDIT: Jellen = 11, Zalure = 12
[Edit by Kirst on [TIME]1121278691[/TIME]]

Well the only suggestion I have is weapons that freeze your opponents or paralyze. Have something with high percentages on Dark. Hit percents would be nice as well. Take a Double Saber with you so you can claim back some of your lost mst. Shot type or launcher weapons would be good for attacking large groups. When they get too close switch to a partisan type weapon. Keep your distance at all times if possible. ScapeDolls will be your friend.

ANd don't be afraid to use attack techs. If you want to do this at a low level, don't expect to finish it in an hour, your gona have to put some time into it.

Use mechgun and kick all ass?
Seriously, mechguns beat rifles, shots and handguns for overall total damage.

I'm way more effective with my 3000R than my 20% Berserk Vulcan.
=\

Not in overall damage..
You can finish off a dimenians in L L H faster than single shots.

I think you are underestimated the power of the 3000R, Khyron. Its a very powerful rifle, and also, Rifles are the rangers strongest weapon in the gun class, (as far as ATP). I agree that Mechguns can do more, but only in certain cases.
For Example:
Alias has teh Red Mechguns...very strong mechguns. As far as overall power. Red Scorpio beats it because of his ATP against enemy DFP calculation.
Neo has L&K combats...weaker than Red mechs. With him they do more than the combo of the Black King Bar because of his ATP against enemy DFP calculation.

it's your mag to be wronged
too many ata
you really don't need that , a 100/50/50/0 would be more effective
hwr i 'd like better a 145/5/50/0 ( attack is the best defence :D )
a ramarl has a maximum gap of 25 on Ata , so if you give more than 50 to your mag it will be wasted ( only at 200lv hwr)
and secondly , if you hit enemies for ridicusly lowly damage then... is like no hitting at all
so , make another mag , savitri is really good at levelling up , but if you want better special ability make a nidra
ps: machine gun are great on hunter , they have more ATP
but ranger can use rifle that hit enemy a lot far away...
Or look for a good shot like a final impact ruby bullet or cruch bullet. then you can hit em all at once. if you want to be fast go for a spread needle.

Crush Bullet is actually weaker than an Arms though, but if you need a lot of HP recovery, then its Gush ability is useful.
I find that Shots are too weak beyond hard mode though.
And how about a compromise on the Yasminkov/Mechgun argument - get some 9000Ms. Rifle range mechguns!
